Good race for Brennen. Always nice to see an American win in cross country, even when the Scandinavians are gone.

Awesome win for Brennan, never even been in the semi's in sprints before and suddenly the 'anti sprinter' wins a sprint :d Sure, no Scandinavians (not that the Finns would matter all that much anyway) but she beat quite a strong field anyway!

Great women's final with hard fighting for the entire top-4, too bad it was followed by an incredibly anticlimactic men's final :p

Again good result for Monika Skinder :)

First points in season for Maciej Staręga and first career points for Weronika Kaleta, good that they took opportunities of missing Scandinavians, otherwise they surely wouldn't be in top30. I'm mad that neither Dominik or Kamil Bury didn't make a top30 with this field...

I'd be surprised if the World Cup in Dresden next weekend happens. There's no longer a discussion on whether or not there will be a 'hard lockdown' in Germany, the question is basically only when it will start: Tuesday or Wednesday.

Since it'll last until 10 January, I highly doubt the 9 and 10 January FIS races in Reit im Winkl will happen as well, which was supposed to be the main preparation race for the world championships for a certain Brazilian Totallympian.

According to this article https://www.mdr.de/sachsen/dresden/dresden-radebeul/adfc-skiweltcup-dresden-kritik-elberadweg-100.html the World Cup will go on. In Germany there are still professional World Cup competitions possible. We also have luge world cups and a Biathlon World Cup during the lockdown in January.

Good day also for :GBR - Andrew Young 3rd & James Cleugnet 8th.  Both will be hoping Dresden goes ahead - there’s a team relay on Sunday, will have a great chance.  Andrew Musgrave will also be looking forward to today’s 15k ITT.

Eiduka is having some week :yikes:

Can’t quite hold it, fades away on the second half.  Still top 10 though.

Surely the Double for Rosie Brennan, nice CHF bonus for Christmas,

Top-10 very, very, very much counts as having some week/day.

Although it's of course not like she is some unknown name for people who follow cross-country skiing.

    • Does the CAS have the authority to address from someone who believes the judges made a mistake in a given discipline? Pizzolato's last attempt at Paris 2024, which earned him the bronze medal, was controversial, but what does the CAS have to do with it? Even if the judges made a mistake then, the result won't change and this isn't the only case where someone feels wronged with this in world of sports. Unless, of course, they have some evidence of corruption or something like that
    • If Pizzolato will to return, would it be to the 86 kg category, or the 94 kg category, like Nasar? In 2024, they were both in the 89 kg category, which will no longer be at the Olympics, but in 2021 in Tokyo, Pizzolato won a medal in the 81 kg category.   Of course, it's unclear what's going on with the rape accusations- personally, unfortunately, I don't think he was ever a sweet angel- he was accused of other immoral things also 10 years ago, but gang rape? I find that hard to believe... Besides, Moldova has appealed about his bronze medal from Paris 2024 to the CAS- the verdict was supposed to be in February. Do you know anything about this? Did they have any grounds for this lawsuit at all?
    • Ukraine won 6 gold medals out of 10 in the women's competotion  + 1 silver and 1 bronze. Where do they get these girls from? It's always been a strong country, but they have never dominated like this. I wonder if their training methods would work in another country and if their coaches have any offerts to job from other countries? However, there is a significant decline in women's judo in Ukraine, so maybe they have directed all their resources and money towards wrestling?
    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
