May the reallocations start! 13 quotas up for grabs.

it sucks I thought the world rankings 2014-2015 would change. and that France would have 2 women and 5 men.

" If the NOC qualified through the 2014 and 2015 IWF World Championships, the quota place will be reallocated to the best ranked NOC at the 2014 and 2015 IWF World Championships, not yet qualified."

- So we are looking at:

Men:

+1

:ISR Israel

:AUT Austria

:BEL Belgium

:NRU Nauru

:LBA Libya

:MGL Mongolia

+2 more (as more than 2 are tied on 0 points).

All countries that lost quota were qualified through  the World championships so there will be 1 place realocated per country that did not qualify in the Worlds.

So for men this means these countries will get 1 quotum at Worlds:

JPN    TUR    USA    KSA    HUN    VEN    LTU    TKM

therefore the whole continental qualification should be recalculated!

Any volunteers :-) ?

Big dopping related news that affects qualification. The IWF has updated the list of countries with quitas removed:

  • Azerbaijan - 1 m / 1 w
  • Belarus - 1 m
  • Kazakhastan - 1 m / 1 w
  • Moldova - 2 m
  • North Korea - 1 m / 1 w
  • Romanian- 1 m
  • Russia - 1 m / 1 w
  • Uzbekistan - 1 w

Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia all face a one year suspention of all the re-tests from 2008 and 2012 are confirmed, so they might miss the Olympics entirely like Bulgaria.

I would say the complete ban for Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will enter after Rio. If it is before Rio the removed quota would be useless for these countries?

That's a different story, those countries lost those 1-2 quotas because of their positive samples after "2015 Worlds" which is confirmed now, IWF had to announce it since that case is apparently closed now.

but KAZ/BLR/RUS will be banned if they have more than 3 doped weightlifters in 2008/2012 Olympics. this case is still not finalized.

by saying that I'm not sure if they will be banned after or before Rio, just saying these are two different stories

    • I used to think Johnston(e) - from some place John build (aka stone for building something hehe).   I'm not familiar if Scottish or Irish clans are named after such clan founder or a place?
    • i'm triggered,legitimately thought kennedy 2.0 happened,just way more out of nowhere
    • Perfectly obvious.    Johnson = son of John Johnston or Johnstone = From St John's Town ie Perth in Scotland.
    • Nope. Azu missed out by 0.01. Bromell lost silver by 0.001!
    • Double silver and no medal for Bromell?
