If Russia (as a country) will be banned, who will take their place?

It won't happen, but in the small chance it does it should be Germany.

Anyway, I don't know if Germany would accept given the opportunity, they don't have the same coach anymore and not even all the same players.

FIVB and CEV have given their full support for Russia, so if the IOC give the sport bodies the power to make their own decision, they won't change the indoor and beach volleyball qualifications.

Sure Gennari is now recovering from a knee surgery (but doing better and hopefully she will recover completely before the OG's start), but she's a better receiver than Diouf and we need more receivers in our team tbh. I'm sad for Valentina ofc, but I understand Bonitta's decision in the end.
It seems the other option was to leave Centoni at home, but he decided for Diouf.

I just looked on FIVB site, and now suddenly for quarter finals it says a2/a3 vs b2/b3, do i misunderstand something or there will be drawing of lots for the quarter finals for the second and third ranked teams?

    • this is not funny at all, pal
    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
