Despite this Marichev's choice of the second setter is really strange.

During WGP we have 3 setters (Pankova, Startseva and Babeshina (nee Shishenina)). Startseva out due McLaren's report. And the second setter is not Babeshina. Vera Vertova isn't starting setter  in Dinamo (she is a substitute player, starting  setter is Pankova).

Only reason is a good understanding with teammates Goncharova, Fetisova and Shcherban. But no international experience for Vetrova.

Yes, she was a second setter. I forget about this. But many years she was not in the national team roster. Very strange.

As for Malyh she plays not good in the WGP. Malygina is really better on block. And I think she will not have many playtime.

And choosing Voronkova as the third outside hitter is strange too. Ilchenko plays all WGP games, but out of Olympic games.

i also find strange that Shlyakovaya is there instead of Lyubushkina

No, I don't think this choise is strange. Samoilenko (Shlyakhovaya) is really stronger then Lyubushkina. She doesn't play so many time due to knee injury. Now she is fully recovered.

If her conditions really OK the main pair of blockers will be Fetisova-Samoilenko. If not - she will be a substitute.
