COVID - 19... COrona VIrus Disease :mumble:

Yeah, it's really not complicated, I'm getting annoyed by all the Dutch people mixing everything up and saying how confusing it is...it's not :p

1. The virus is a coronavirus, one of many.

2. It's a new - or, novel - coronavirus, hence the original temporary name of 2019-nCoV.

3. That virus got it's more final name of SARS-CoV-2 after the needed research to see what it does.

4. The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 was called COVID-19, of which you explained the abbreviation already.

How can this be complicated for so many people in this country? :d

I don't know about Iran, but as far as concerns Italy, there were nearly 200 deaths of people that was positive to coronavirus. This does not mean that the virus was directly or indirectly responsible for the death, but that it was present in the body. This is just to say that although it is imperative to contain the spreading of this disease, panic has to be avoided. And this is true not only for Italy, but for everybody.

You are right.

Not gonna lie, some of the data sounds scary, but then again, we've survived both Ebola and Zika outbreaks, not to mention the 2009 Swine Flu pandemic which allegedly infected over 1 billion people and killed nearly 250,000 of them,. So yeah, unless suddenly Kuru appears and breaks into an epidemic somewhere nearby I don't think there's a reason for panic.

I have no words, people simply don't understand anything, there is no need that hundreds of people  go to supermarket this evening, stupid people, very stupid

Not to mention people buy more than they need quite often, and they make it impossible for people of lower social classes to get the supplies they need (which in turn leads to higher infection rates).
