Wearn started 20 pts behind and finished 20 pts ahead. You don't very often see that degree of change among the medal contenders so late in the contest. Josh 6,406 Posted August 19, 2023 #147 Share Posted August 19, 2023 (edited) Thought Douglas would secure a quota, just thought she would do it a little easier... and certainly not with an extremely disappointing 24th Edited August 19, 2023 by Josh Nickyc707

You don't very often see that degree of change among the medal contenders so late in the contest. Beckett was always at risk after he picked up the BFD in race 5 - you can afford to have 1 bad race but not too. On the upside for him, he was the most consistent sailor across the course of the regatta so will be right in the medal hunt next year - assuming he gets the nod over Eliott Hanson - but on the downside, this is the second regatta where he has led (and led well) in the early stages only to lose out to Wearn after the same thing happened at the Paris test event.
