3rd win in a row for Iran, this time after a crazy VAR decision. our player even left the pitch after the red card but then they realized they have to check the offside position too and found it offside and few minutes later Iran scored the winning goal :p without VAR Iran had to play 30 minutes with 10 players at 0-0.

in Group A we already have a big gap between top 2 (Iran and Korea) and the rest.

and Japan is in big trouble in Group B, they lost to KSA tonight. still too early but KSA and Australia are creating a gap. Japan can't lose more points if they don't want to play playoffs.

I remember a user from :IRI here crying and desperate about the chances of being in WC, some months ago :p

Good to see that the things changed well.

:p yeah he acted like a crybaby   but serious Iran was in big trouble after losing two matches in the first round and

since then we changed the coach and his team won 10 matches (7 WCQ matches + 3 friendly) in a row and set a new record in Iran's history and he is not even a great coach

Japan looking in great danger after 3 game weeks , only 3 points short of 6 points to both Austalia and KSA who are looking really sharp in this qualifications , they definitely would regret this loss against Oman ,meanwhile Iran and Korea looking very sharp for both spots in the other group in Asia

Canada drew Mexico at Azteca, first draw since 1980! (no wins however)

And if anything that result is faltering to Mexico.

Really happy with Canada's position now. This is looking like a team that has a very real shot of qualifying for the World Cup.

Canada tied with Mexico 1-1 and they even don't seem happy with this result ! latin american teams really declined and the gap became huge between them and Europe

I think Mexico has the same level as usual, just Canada is better.

I also think you're making strong conclusions, we haven't seen any competitive matches between national teams of different continents in a while. And cross-confederation friendlies are almost non existent these days.

    • Have mercy, I can't last 18 days without sleep.
    • This might be unpopular but it would allow way more sports and quotas and cities to host at a lower cost.
    • I think Julia Tannheimer will continue to perform so well on the flatter courses in Ruhpolding and Antholz, which will suit her technique. Oberhof will be more exciting, the courses are very demanding, but quite comparable to the World Championships in Lenzerheide. That's why I'm really looking forward to Oberhof this season. Anyone who can cope well with the courses in Oberhof should also be able to run at the front at the World Championships.

    • Thanks for your predictions, they are very interesting.   But here it will be a different format. Combined events - pairs of athletes, one male/female will perform in downhill and other will perform in slalom. E.g. Team SUI 1 Odermatt plus Meillard.
    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.
    • Medal Table (Change from 2022)    - 20 (+4)  - 13 (+1)  - 13 (+5)  - 9 (+7)  - 9 (=)  - 7 (+2)  - 7 (=)  - 6 (-2)  - 6 (-1)  - 5 (+1)  - 5 (+4)  - 4 (+1)  - 4 (-5)  - 3 (+2)  - 2 (=)  - 1 (=)  - 1 (+1)      -5,  -2,  -2,  -2, , -1, , -1, , -1 fail to male the list   On 1st glance 1 feel I have underestimated Canada, Sweden and Finland, and overestimated GB (obviously) and Netherlands.    If the Russians aren't competing then the Norwegians will have a field day in cross country skiing, but it is too early to tell.   World cups and championships aren't always the best measure for some sports but it's the best I can find.      As an overall trend I feel this will be a strong games for the European nations (home advantage) but the Asian nations might struggle, not necessarily at the extent I predicted here but I don't think their results will be as good as Beijing.
