Besides Canada, are there a lot of other nations represented in the NFL?

At the end of the 2022 season, there were 82 players born outside of the Untied States in the NFL -- either on active rosters or practice squads.

This article talks more about international players in the NFL. :NGR:AUS:GER have the most players besides US and Canada. Link: https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/nfl/heres-a-list-of-all-the-active-nfl-players-born-outside-of-the-united-states/496802/

Be careful with the German contingent. It seems most were born on US army bases in Germany and would probably not be eligible for :GER team

I think a lot of NFL players will discover their eligibility for :ISR :IRL or :ITA citizenship.

the US Military bases located outside the US territory legally are not considered US soil (like an Embassy, for instance)

it's quite complicated, but basically if both the parents are from USA, you are still American for sure (but you can apply for the German citizenship, too, even if there are some limits and you also need that you and your family have the official residence in Germany for a few years...and those enrolled in the military troops have even more rules to follow)

I'm ok with this. It arrives 3 games late, should have been since the beggining

Ya, golfers have been asking for a team event since day zero. If golf is going to be in the Olympics this is necessary.

Is it really the right word "necessary". Golf with a men's and women's event seems perfectly fine. A mixed event is good, if you would like a "show".

At least, they’re going to exploit more a venue:d

It's important for a couple of reasons

1) it showcases matchplay, which has been lacking, despite it arguably being the more watchable format for virgin viewers

2) it gets more use out of the venue

My proposal?

12 Teams of 4 - 2 men, 2 women. in three groups of 4 - Highest ranked nations are offered 4 spots automatically, before kicking into single rankings

If more than 12 teams are possible, the strokeplay aggregate is used to rank top 12 teams. Max 1 team per NOC in final 12.

Matches over 9 holes in group stage, with nearest the pin tie breaker if all square after  9

Matches scored on the 2pts per hole won, 1 per hole tied basis - first to 10 therefore wins. Match halts at that point

Each 'rubber' consists of three matches - men's singles, women's singles, and mixed foursome. 2 matches wins the rubber, match scores 10-x used like goal difference if required.

Top 2 per group plus next best 2 to QF, again over 9 holes

Group matches could easily be done in a day, 2 at most

Then semis and medal matches done over 18 holes over next two days, or next day

Total holes for medalists (9+9+9) Group + 9 QF + 18 semi + 18 medal = 72 holes.over three days -  (27) Groups (27) Quarter and semi (18) Medal

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
