British rowing legend Steve Redgrave also won Gold after a diabetes diagnosis. There is, or was, an American all-diabetic pro cycling team we saw sometimes when the World Tour visited the US.  Also an American cross country skier, can’t remember who.  So no need to be in despair.

Tottenham glory Gary Mabbutt was also one of the first pro athletes to admit publicly he had diabetis through his entire career...

nowadays, New York Rangers' Finnish player Kaapo Kakko plays despite having diabetis type 1...

and many more high level athletes have the same problem...

modern medicines allow people to keep it under control with not too many counter effects, so also being a pro sportsman is possible without too many restrictions...

Was going to mention him, but I thought “No, nobody is going to remember that far back”.

Funny how the USA selected Andrew Blaser to be their representative, since he is clearly only the third best American slider. :p

He just got lucky not to make the WC team. Collecting points was so much easier on the weaker North American Cup (and on familiar tracks).

Can't blame him for understanding the rules!

IBSF now taken to CAS in three separate cases over qualification.

Unfortunately the person writing this article does not know what they are talking about.  Hopefully (if you are rooting for Israel and Ireland to get in) the substance of their case is simply about the unused bobsleigh quotas. I don't see how there could be a case, you failed to qualify, the rules were clear.
