Interesting to read the comments of Alysa Liu’s father on the topic. Liu is another skater that graduated to the international stage at a young age. (There’s more comments from him if you click the thread)

I think we going to see the IOC come under major pressure to simply ignore Cas rulings. What’s the punishment if they simply refuse her to enter the arena. A fine?

They may come under pressure but ignoring CAS opinion?  Won't happen.  IOC statement "We must follow the rule of law."

Same way the Károlyi got away with it. Win medals and your country will look the other way even as you abuse children.

Just thinking about this, I think part of the reason Americans in particular are having such a strong negative reaction to Eteri is that we just saw first hand the horrible damage that kind of coaching mentality can lead to.

@bmoHey, you forgot to mention Olympics is more about money than fair play these days - at least for those fighting for medals. Pro sports is pure business so sending an example doesn't really matter anymore. A country that values capitalism so much like USA should understand that more than anyone else! :d

Yeah true. It’s just a shame that this is starting to make its way into the olympics.

    • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.

    • Yes, he is ones of the first supporters of Milei, owner of one of the most important stock market of Argentina (Bull market), he was peronist and for "unknown reasons" start to be libertarian.   Even being libertarian in my case, i have to admit that him is one of the dumbest of "Milei supporters" and a clown when  he is in TV, he made me feel  embarrassed in many occasions.   Camila Giorgi being with him is.......inconceivable.
