Biathlon at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

Repinc has been/is still injured. She has not appeared on the international circuit this year and only raced in Slovenia in December.

In the sprint she was beaten by K.Vindišar on equal shooting and beat Ž.Klemenčič by 26'' with two less mistakes.

No, Slovenia haven't quota. Polona and Lena got a personal wild card.....
If Slovenia take Ziva, she couldn't compete in Beijing.

Nope, the rules are clear, the quota are not nominative. Each NOC is free to send whichever athlete they want as long as they are < 150 IBUQP, which is not selective at all.

Same applies for Korea. Frolina brings one quota but will not go to Beijing since she's pregnant.

So, instead Frolina, to Beijing will go another Korean, or next biathlete of the IBU points (Gabriela Lescinskaite)?

Baiba Bendika got a quota for Latvia, but can go to OG for example, Sanita Bulita?

Theoretically, yes (in case Bulina has under 150 IBU points, which I believe she does?).

Well thank god for that. Was scared he wouldn't make it and then we'll end up losing him. Hopefully he gets the support he needs now. It's a travesty it took this long.

Now I'm curious if he'll stay with the team/coach he has been with for the past few years, or if he'll try and join a bigger team or something.

    • Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
