Arghhh. Pretty crazy when i think of it. When each number of swimming events can have 2 (or maybe more?) from the same NoC.

weightlifting is really lucky to be still included in the Olympic program

with all the scandals (doping, administrative crimes and much more) they've been part of, having still 5 weight classes for both men and women (and 3 lifter per gender also to Nations that have been caught with their hands in the marmelade of doping more than once) is a blessing

and looking at what's happening these days, also with this new leaders, nothing has changed...it's only a question of "when", not "if" weightlifting will be scratched by the IOC

If anyone was thinking the soap opera of Bulgarian weightlifting has ended, oh my sweet summer child 😄 The Federation is owing 36 k Euro to IWF for the organisation of the European Championship in February.

We have until 20th May to pay up, otherwise our 3 lifters, including Karlos Nasar will be barred from the Olympics. The Federation has been in debt for 8 months now. They don't have any money and the Sports Ministry are refusing to give them the new budget, because of said previous debts.

And the deadline for this payment was actually the end of April. IWF made an exception and extended to May 20th, just so they don't DQ our guys. Weightlifting isn't amongst the brightest sports at all, but i am fully convinced, that the people involved with it have a lower IQ, than monkeys in a zoo.

The humiliation was averted, as the Sports Minister said, that everything is payed and our lifters have no issues for Paris. This means, that nothing can stop Karlos Nasar from fulfilling his destiny. :yes

as the good old Trapattoni used to say "non dire gatto, se non ce l'hai nel sacco"

I mean, wait until the destiny is fulfilled...bad luck is always behind the corner

Can beat you both in a different sport. GB will not have a fencer at the Games for the first time in 120 years. In St Louis in 1904 at least there was the excuse that very few non-Americans participated in any of the sports.
