Initially they had to assign direct quotas, then they removed it as a qualifying event. Now is it not even giving ranking points ? :mumble:

no ranking points, but we still have 2 direct quota (1 male and 1 female) up for grabs...

the only problem is that those 2 quota will be awarded only after the OQP is over (next April), since the OQR has the priority over the continental qualification...

How does that work ? How do they decide in which category to assign that ?

they look at all 5 EG champions in the various category...if 1 or more are not qualified through the OQR, the highest in the world ranking among those champions will be awarded the quota...

if all the champions are qualified via OQR, then they look at all the silver medallists from the EG (with the same criteria, looking for the best in the WR)...

if also all the silver medallists are qualified via OQR, finally they look at the bronze medallists (always the same criteria, the best in the WR gets the spot)...

if all the medallists are already qualified, then the spot(s) are reallocated through the global OQR...

therefore, as we wrote before, everything will be known only by next month of April 2020 at the end of the OQR...

And to think that some protested against opening different threads for Pan American Games. :)

We just have 3 dedicated threads for the European Games (3 sports which give direct Olympic quotas):

All the posts have been moved into those threads ;)

No clue who would ever do such a thing...

I was more pointing out to the fact that users seem to be getting mixed up in various sports discussions around here (like getting athletics and karate confused...).

    • I've read many years ago that the switch to artificial grass kinda kill the sport at grassroots level in these two countries.
    • India and Pakistan totally losing the plot in this sport, sad.

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
