  5. One has to remember that, although it is global, the Olympic Games is not a 'world championships' for the sport - it's not supposed to be, and given sevens has arguably two world championship formats already - world series and world 7s cup - it doesn't need to be. Obviously, as an Olympic comp, it is important in its own right, but it is also, like most of the teams sports, a big demonstrated event - a taster to create more interest in the sport. And as such it is going to e - and ought to be - smaller, and more driven by representation than pure merit.

  8. Are winter sports allowed at the World Games? It would be interesting if they decide to include Ice Stock Sport or Synchronized Skating.
  9. Easier to say who definitely won't be doubling based on the confirmed entries for British Diving Champs/Olympic Selection meet: Tom Daley won't be going in the individual 10m platform I don't think he has competed individually since his return, so this isn't a huge surprise. Anthony Harding isn't entered for the individual springboard event and neither is Scarlett Mew-Jensen so unless they apply for a late entry for the British Champs, they won't be doubling up either. For what it is worth, the winner of the individual events at the British Champs will be guaranteed selection is they hit required scores in both prelims and finals. The second sport is essentially at the discretion of the selectors with performances from Doha WC and the Diving world Cup being taken into account.

  16. Well, Pieleshenko was banned for doping for 8 years (until 2026) so it's not like we'd seen him in sports anymore. The ban was so long since he was banned for stanozolol for 2 years before already.

  21. I think Al Ghotany is still given the invitational places to Olympics for Refugee Olympic Team since his name is included in the athlete list in Refugee Olympic Team. But the quota given to him is an invitational quota but not the quota from Asian Qualifier. And the Asian Qualifier quota is given to . So one more quota is given out. I think the reason why Abbasi is not given the quota is because he is not a real refugee so the quota taken by the Refugee Olympic Team is disqualified since the athlete is not eligible for the NOC. So a reallocation is given to the bronze medalist but an invitational quota is still given to Refugee Team
  22. Abbasi lost his quota since he is not real refugee Quota go to another refugee and !
