  1. For sure, but as we saw in Tokyo, the team relies heavily on Biles' scores (which alone could put them 2-3 points ahead of the other contenders).
  2. Women's Hezly Rivera Jade Carey Simone Biles Sunisa Lee Jordan Chiles Unusual to see 4 gymnasts from the last Olympics being selected again, but of course things would be different if Shilese Jones and Skye Blakely weren't injured.
  3. Men's Marcus D'Almeida Women's Ana Luiza Caetano
  4. Also it's not like Nedoroscik is the most consistent in his event. Seems like this decision could cost them a medal in the team event?
  5. Men's Rayan Castro Women's Camilla Lopes Gomes Somewhat of a controversy in the women's selection, as Alice Gomes won the quota for Brazil and today was the brazilian champion ahead of selected gymnast Camilla (who has more difficult routines).
  6. won medals in the last 2 days in Tokyo.
  7. Women's Park Raicca Ventura Dora Varella Isadora Pacheco Men's Park Augusto Akio Luigi Cini Pedro Barros Women's Street Rayssa Leal Pâmela Rosa Gabriela Mazetto Men's Street Kelvin Hoefler Giovanni Vianna Felipe Gustavo
  8. Brazil was 1 victory away from qualifying in M Football, M Handball, W Basketball. We only qualified where the quota was almost a guarantee (M/W Volleyball, W Football, W Handball, W Rugby Sevens). There's still M Basketball but no chance.
  9. Arthur Nory (Artistic Gymnastics) and Rayan Dutra (Trampoline) have both qualified for the Olympics.
  10. Men's Diogo Soares Arthur Nory Women's Rebeca Andrade Flávia Saraiva Jade Barbosa Lorrane Oliveira Júlia Soares For the men, they opted for Nory (former medalist, world champion) instead of an AA gymnast (Caio Souza, who is the alternate). Third Olympic participation for Nory and second for Soares. The women's team is the same who won a world silver medal last year, with Carolyne Pedro as the alternate. Third Olympics for Andrade, Saraiva and Barbosa, second for Oliveira, and first for Júlia.
  11. lost for the two teams ( ) that will face in group stage at the Olympics. Hopefully, it was a good lesson to not repeat this next month
  12. Brazil qualified the smallest number of teams (5) since the 80s, and the only realistic chance of medals with them is in Volleyball. Team sports usually dominate brazilian TV programming, so perhaps they'll focus more on other sports this time (although I wouldn't be surprised if they show men's football even without Brazil). Overall, I'm satisfied with individual sports, but I think we did very poorly with teams qualification.
  13. ITTF has published the final list of qualifiers by event in Table Tennis. Number of qualified athletes by NPC is available in the qualification tracker.

  15. I hope Bia doesn't do the same. She's having a pretty rough year.
  16. Sure, but maybe they should just say that they are prioritizing their ranking over the Olympics? (like every single Games) Of course every player may choose what's best for them, but it would absolutely piss me off if some player wouldn't play the Games because of something like this.
  17. With this team, I can confidently say that will be 1-2 on the women's podium.
  18. I'm sorry, but with tennis players there's always one big excuse that everyone uses. In 2016 it was the Zika virus (which turned out to be a big nothing), in 2021 it was the pandemic (when most of them were playing in other tournaments at the same time) and now it's the change of surfaces. Honestly, I wish they would just be real about it and say they don't care that much about the Olympics...
  19. Apparently sent a team of about 100 university athletes for this. Also, the city of Fortaleza is interested in hosting next year's Games.
  20. Something about African qualifiers having only 3 teams. was the replacing team.
  21. Men's Vinicius Rangel Women's Ana Vitoria Magalhães
