I can only speak for myself personally because I don’t know how @dezbee2008 goes about it, but I keep a running playlist of possible contenders throughout the year. I’ll read music articles/reviews, listen through artist discovery playlists, and take suggestions from friends/family etc. In this case, a recent release won out. To be honest, I don’t personally prioritize winning. It would be nice, and I do try to choose a song that I both like and that I think will do well (which I very much though this one would.), but ultimately I just to try to share wonderful, interesting music. Also, on the topic of this particular entry, it wasn’t my first choice. However, it was most well liked amongst our jury and my friends and family.

Since we’ve got some time before the next session, I’ll go ahead and drop my personal votes now that I can. - 12 (I appreciate the concept of this album even if it isn’t my favorite of hers. This song was truly beautiful though.) - 11 (This was probably the song I was pulling the hardest for to see at Eurovision. I enjoy a good modernized folk song, and this song has a wonderful message behind it. However, Midas is my favorite of theirs.) - 10 (Just a gorgeous song with some great lyrics.) - 9 (I’ll admit to vibing to this song on my way to uni on more than one occasion during the voting period. Good overall quality.) - 8 (Quite literally put a spell on me . Wonderful vocals.) - 7 (This song is incredibly radio friendly. Honestly, wouldn’t be surprised to hear it on pop station in LA. I like the lyrics too.) - 6 (Just really liked what this song offered overall.) - 5 (Pleasant entry, with great instrumentation, and nice vocals.) - 4 (I didn’t like this song as much as the last entry, but the bold message helped it out.) - 3 (I can’t believe this song hasn’t gotten a little more love.
