  4. Mixed day overall I would say. Homan and Morris haven't been at their best but it was nice to see them almost beat Great Britain and get a win against the reigning bronze medalists to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. Hopefully they can regain their form tomorrow and be able to work as a team again. Dominant win from the women's hockey team. Unfortunate that Daoust had to get injured but fingers crossed that it isn't too serious. Nice to see Kingsbury and Justine Dufour-Lapointe qualify. I was honestly only expecting Kingsbury to qualify so it's nice to see two Canadians advance. Chloe Dufour-Lapointe should be safe to advance too since they count your best of two runs for the final. Gagnon should also hopefully be safe. Dumais has some work to do though. He seems to like to go really big so hopefully he can tone down his difficulty slightly so that he can be clean.
  5. Yeah, definitely not a great game, but Canada also struggled in the first game in 2018 too and went on a tear the rest of the way. Not concerned yet. On the other hand, having Great Britain, Norway and Switzerland as the first 3 opponents is a brutal trio of games to start the tournament.
  6. Yeah, definitely a very interesting theme. I was kind of hoping they would bring back the theme from 2008 to be honest.

  8. First day of Canadian action coming up! Day -1 (February 3) Canadian Schedule February 2 (times in Eastern time) 20:05: Curling- Mixed Doubles- Round Robin- Session 2: Great Britain vs. Canada (Rachel Homan, John Morris) 23:10: Ice Hockey- Women’s Preliminary Round- Group A: Switzerland vs. Canada February 3 5:00: Freestyle Skiing- Women’s Moguls- Qualification #1 (Chloe Dufour-Lapointe, Justine Dufour-Lapointe, Sofiane Gagnon) 6:45: Freestyle Skiing- Men’s Moguls- Qualification #1 (Laurent Dumais, Mikael Kingsbury) 7:05: Curling- Mixed Doubles- Round Robin- Session 4: Norway vs. Canada
  9. My plan is to start with CAN vs GBR curling followed by a bit of CAN vs SUI, sleep, wake up to watch women's moguls, sleep for another hour, wake up to watch men's moguls.
  10. I'm guessing Fillon Maillet will probably be the most popular answer on here but I voted for Johannes. He looked like he was in great shape at the last world cup stage in Antholz and was really fast on the course which like in Beijing was at high altitude. In the end, it'll all come down to his shooting.
  11. Yeah 23 seems reasonable, though they predicted Canada to win 4 of the 6 medals in men's snowboard slopestyle/big air . I noticed that there were some other Canadians medal contenders that weren't predicted to win though like Brendan Mackay and Kim Boutin.
  12. It would be fun to see Charles Hamelin win an individual medal in short track in his final olympics. Also Max Parrot winning a gold after beating cancer or a gold from one of our ice hockey teams.
  13. So here's how AP predicted the medals (Gold-Silver-Bronze-Total) 1. Norway: 20-8-11-39 2. Germany: 10-8-7-25 3. United States: 8-16-14-38 4. China: 8-3-7-18 5. Sweden: 7-7-4-18 6. Netherlands: 7-5-7-19 7. Canada: 6-10-7-23 8. France: 6-7-8-21 9. Austria: 6-5-10-21 (note, this includes a medal for Kramer) 10. Switzerland: 6-4-5-15 11. Russian Olympic Committee: 5-14-8-27 12. Japan: 5-7-8-20 13. South Korea: 4-3-0-7 14. Italy: 3-0-2-5 15. Great Britain: 2-1-0-3 16. Slovakia: 1-2-0-3 16. New Zealand: 1-2-0-3 18. Czech Republic: 1-1-2-4 19. Finland: 1-1-1-3 20. Latvia: 1-1-0-2 21. Belgium: 1-0-0-1 22. Australia: 0-2-1-3 23. Slovenia: 0-1-0-1 23. Spain: 0-1-0-1 24. Belarus: 0-0-4-4 25. Hungary: 0-0-2-2 26. Estonia: 0-0-1-1 Once again, AP is using the strategy of "predicting every American that's a medal contender to be on the podium" and also using the strategy of "I hate Canada".
  14. Yeah, I agree that by day would be better. Also Sindo, I believe you forgot to tag @orangeman
  15. I predicted 9 for them in my predictions. Shiffrin in alpine combined, Meyers Taylor in monobob, Nathan Chen, Chloe Kim, Jamie Anderson, Red Gerard, Erin Jackson, Brittany Bowe and theens team pursuit. Since there's no "same number of medals" option, I'll vote less because a lot of those events have high variance and they arey country's biggest rivals .

  17. Had some time to update my predictions from a month ago. Once again, please keep in mind that my knowledge of alpine skiing and the nordic sports (aside from biathlon) isn't that great. Biathlon, short track and the freestyle events were especially hard to predict given their unpredictability. Athletes who are in covid protocol but haven't been ruled out of an event are still listed. 18. Really hate how the super bowl is scheduled at the same time as the olympics this year. I don't think I'll have enough screens to watch everything.
