The good news: All 3 pairs qualified for the free skate meaning that we would qualify 3 pairs outright if they met the performance requirements tomorrow in the free skate. The bad news: Going to be tough to meet those requirements. To qualify 3 pairs, we would need our top two pairs teams to have a combined placement score of 13 or lower. Currently, our top two pairs have a combined placement score of 17.

Not quite. You can only earn two quotas if you have two or three skaters in the free program. Canada only has one so they'll get the chance to qualify another through the final qualifier.

Madeline Schizas had a great day at figure skating worlds and sits in sixth after the short program. She's officially earned one women's quota on figure skating but could give Canada the opportunity to send a skater to the final qualification event if she finishes in the top 10

I think you have to advance to the free skate to have a chance at a quota. An extra men's quota was allocated at the final qualifier 4 years ago because China didn't meet the requirements to send two skaters to the Olympics despite both of them qualifying for the free skate.
