  1. Although they are currently marked as having two qualified athletes, Suriname may very well be back down to 0 athletes. Renzo Tjon-a-Joe (who qualified in swimming) recently got a dutch passport and will now represent the Netherlands internationally. And then in athletics, I believe Issam Assinga is still suspended so who knows if he will compete in Paris or not.
  2. Women's 100m Breaststroke Results: 1. Shona Branton - 1:07.40 2. Kelsey Wog - 1:07.52 3. Alexanne Lepage - 1:07.75 4. Sophie Angus - 1:07.82 Can't wait for the race at trials!
  3. I think you mean Huini Xu (Peyton Leigh was born in 08) That is actually faster than Summer McIntosh was at 11 years old.
  4. Oleksiak went 54.67 as well. Very good result for her.
  5. Quick midweek update on some trials/national meets this week: Hungary Most of the highlights have already been mentioned by other users on the forum. However, one swim was missed. Yesterday in the men's 200 IM, Gabor Zombori swam 1:57.88 to beat his lifetime best by over a second. That swim gets him under the OQT needed for the Olympics. South Africa (After 3 of 6 days) Josh has already mentioned Schoenmaker's time. However, in the same race, Kaylene Corbett also went 2:23.71 to also confirm her ticket to Paris. She has been 2:22 in the qualification period at WUGS. Pieter Coetze also went 1:55.85 in the 200m backstroke to confirm his spot in Paris. Matt Sates has the OQT in the 200m butterfly but wasn't quite able to clear the OQT at this meet. However, I believe South Africa does accept OQT's from outside the national championships if no swimmer hits it there. New Zealand (After 3 of 5 days) Eve Thomas successfully added the 1500m freestyle to her event lineup to go alongside the 400m and 800m freestyles. She won in 16:07.46 to get under the OQT. Hazel Ouwehand established a New Zealand Record in the Women's 100m Butterfly. Her time of 57.43 gets her a ticket to Paris. Erika Fairweather has been in fine form going 1:55.45 and 4:02.35 in the 200 and 400m freestyles. She's already qualified in both events. Lewis Clareburt is already in fine form. He went 1:47.18 and 3:46.85 in the 200 and 400m freestyles. Both PB's and the latter is under the OCT. These set him up well for his better 200m butterfly and 200m IM events later in the meet where he is still hunting down the OQT's. Despite achieving the OQT at the 2023 World Championships, Andrew Jeffcoat is in danger of missing the Olympics. He already failed to hit the OQT in the 100m backstroke and has one more chance in the 200m backstroke here.
  6. Solid results in the 200 free. Obviously Summer is a beast but I was definitely more excited about MSH going 1:56.76. 1:58s from Jansen and Brousseau are decent results at this point in time and of course it's great to see Penny getting better. Also in the 100m backstroke, 15 year old Madison Kryger set a new PB of 1:00.81.
  7. Looks like the Arizona Coyotes are close to relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah
  8. Actually, I simulated 5 athletes for Virgin Islands in this years update . It did include an athlete in fencing and archery so that's already checked off. It didn't factor in Michelle Smith though so if she does qualify through the rankings, they could have another male universality. Add the two swimmers to that and then you would get 6 athletes.
  9. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5ecCGzuwMk/?igsh=eHhscXFmM3p5Y2p1 Christian Gow announced his retirement. This marks the end of an era for Canadian men's biathlon since he was the last remaining member of the relay team that won bronze at 2016 Worlds.

And now the long wait for a team announcement begins...
  11. I doubt it. Currently, the 4 swimmers with the best 200m freestyle times are Djakovic, Mityukov, Liess and Ponti. They would need 1 relay quota there. Medley relay would be something like Mityukov -> Desplanches -> Ponti-> Liess or Bollin -> Desplanches -> Ponti -> Mityukov. Desplanches currently has an OCT so I don't think he needs a relay quota. So they should be fine. They did reject one quota in Tokyo but it was a women's quota. They accepted all the men's quotas.

  16. Here's a look at some notable national meets coming up next week: Danish Open - April 11-14 Last chance for Danish swimmers to qualify for the Olympics. Julie Jensen (W 50m freestyle), Thea Blomsterberg (W 200m breaststroke) and Helena Bach (W 200m butterfly) are already qualified. Entry list & results Livestream New Zealand National Championships - April 9-13 Last chance for Kiwi swimmers to qualify for the Olympics. Erika Fairweather (W 200m, 400m, 800m freestyle), Eve Thomas (W 400m, 800m freestyle) and Lewis Clareburt (M 400m IM) are already qualified. Entry List Results Livestream Selection Criteria South African National Championships - April 8-13 Last chance for South African swimmers to qualify for the Olympics. Ibelieve if two swimmers fail to pass their entry times, the following will guarantee their selection. Everyone else needs to reach the OQT. Pieter Coetze (M 100m backstroke, M 200m backstroke) Chad le Clos (M 100m butterfly) Matt Sates (M 100m butterfly, M 200m butterfly, M 200m IM) Kaylene Corbett (W 200m breaststroke) Erin Gallagher (W 100m butterfly) Rebecca Meder (W 200m IM) Tatjana Smith (Schoenmaker) (W 100m breaststroke, W 200m breaststroke) Entry List Unfortunately that's all I can find at the moment. Results should be on Meet Mobile or here eventually. Hungarian National Championships - April 9-12 Unlike the other meets, Hungarian athletes still have until the end of the qualifying window to qualify and the athletes with the two best times in each event with an OQT will be taken. Entry List & Results Livestream
  17. Safe to say that the 100 fly did not go according to plan.
  18. Psych sheets for the TYR Pro Swim Series next weekend featuring Marchand, Haughey and most of the elite American swimmers.
  19. Looks like they're both at the TYR Pro Swim Series instead. Going to be a busy week of swimming.
  20. You can probably add Jacob Whittle as a selection candidate. GB will probably want to rest some guys in the heats and Whittle has relay experience.
  21. Should be an exciting Men's 100m Freestyle Final at British Trials this evening. These are just from heats this morning. Matt Richards – 48.01 David Cumberlidge – 48.16 Alexander Cohoon – 48.44 Tom Dean – 48.47 & Jacob Whittle – 48.47 – Duncan Scott – 48.48 Alexander Painter – 48.66 James Guy – 48.68

  24. I've figured it out. Kim Younghyeon was selected as the butterfly swimmer for the medley relay. The Korean federation will wait for a bit to select any remaining 4x200m freestyle relay swimmers because they want to see if any of the 4th-6th place finished can go 1:46 so they can rest their best swimmers in the heats.
