  1. Cam Alexander is out of the Super-G after crashing in the downhill training yesterday
  2. Good luck to the people who have to select the mens snowboard slope style and big air team. Some world class snowboarders are going to be left off.
  3. In the mens race, 2009 born Zachari Moreau finished 18th out of 71 finishers. He was the youngest athlete in the race.
  4. Yes. I was going to post the list of countries that got a basic quota after the championships were over but I can just keep editing this post as I doubt that there'll be many more countries that earn the basic quota. The following NOC's have earned the basic quota (1 athlete) for the respective gender: Men: Women:
  5. Oh the Tour de Ski Overall counts as well? That would explain the discrepancies then . I'm sure Brazil will be in the top 30 in the end given the top 3 athletes are scored and they have better depth than some of the countries at the bottom of the rankings.
  6. Cross-Country Skiing NOC Quota Standings as of February 2nd These are the quotas that get allocated to NOCs after the basic quota (1 male + 1 female) is allocated to NOC's who have athletes that have the required amount of points. These standings are NOT the same as the World Cup Nations Cup. The Nations cup only gives points to the top 30 athletes in a race while the Olympic rankings give points to every athlete which partakes in a race and also includes World Championships and World Junior Championships results. I attempted to calculate the standings using this document as I don't believe the list has been made public yet. 4 quotas 3 quotas 2 quotas 1 quota Men Rank NOC Points 1 Norway 13185 2 Sweden 9254 3 France 8930 4 Finland 7746 5 United States 7291 6 Italy 6442 7 Germany 6336 8 Switzerland 6145 9 Czechia 4144 10 Canada 4037 11 Austria 4035 12 Great Britain 3434 13 Slovenia 3164 14 Estonia 3007 15 Australia 2129 16 Japan 1587 17 Latvia 1568 18 Poland 1441 19 Kazakhstan 1246 20 Andorra 1170 21 Spain 1170 22 Ireland 1161 23 Hungary 812 24 Ukraine 712 25 China 621 26 Thailand 336 27 Armenia 276 28 Romania 266 29 Slovakia 217 30 Bulgaria 193 31 Mongolia 137 32 Serbia 131 33 Argentina 118 34 Korea 115 35 Croatia 97 36 Chile 80 37 Colombia 76 38 North Macedonia 47 39 Lithuania 47 40 Belgium 45 41 Liechtenstein 39 Women Rank NOC Points 1 Norway 12310 2 Sweden 10634 3 Finland 9539 4 Germany 9529 5 United States 8562 6 Switzerland 6329 7 France 5039 8 Italy 4680 9 Canada 4533 10 Czechia 4298 11 Austria 3636 12 Estonia 2190 13 Slovenia 1885 14 Kazakhstan 1677 15 Ukraine 1304 16 Australia 1203 17 Poland 588 18 Japan 510 19 Latvia 442 20 Chinese Taipei 194 21 Andorra 183 22 Armenia 131 23 Korea 122
  7. Uzbekistan may be able to get a medal in short track. I believe both of their athletes used to compete for Russia.
  8. Also the first person to ever go under 34 seconds in the 500m at sea level
  9. The Canadian site, CBC, put up an article today about the junior phenom Nela Lopusanova @hckošice
  10. I know that. I was just wondering if any users on here have been keeping track of quotas since FIS likely won't make the qualification points list public until spring at the earliest. And judging by the lack of replies on here, it would seem like the answer is no unsurprisingly
  11. At this rate, we'll be getting a retirement announcement from Klæbo by the end of next week.
  12. Has anyone been keeping track of Olympic quotas by any chance? Some guy on wikipedia has been attempting to keep track and has linked which athlete has met the requirements but I haven't had the time to go through each athlete. Assuming wikipedia is correct, then UAE is set to make their Winter Olympic debut and would return to the games after missing 2022.
  13. While the short course world championships were going on, the Ontario Junior International meet was also taking place (also in a 25m pool). 12 year old Shima Taghavi broke 4 national age group records including Summer McIntosh's 200m IM record as well as all the breakstroke events. She even won the 200m breaststroke outright against other 16 and 17 year olds. Meanwhile, 16 year old Madison Kryger also had a big meet winning 6 out of 6 events. Notably, if we compared the times from the world championships, her time in the 100m backstroke would have placed her 13th overall in prelims and her 200m freestyle time would have ranked 15th overall. The most impressive swim might have been the 200m backstroke which would have qualified her for the World Championship final in 8th and was faster than Regan Rathwell's time. 12 year old Huini Xu also broke the national age group record in the 200m freestyle and had some other impressive swims. Results
  14. 12 year old Grayson Coulter swam a long course meter 200m freestyle time of 1:54.40! The fastest ever 12 year old. Also had some other incredible swims at the Queensland Championships. 12-Yr-OId Grayson Coulter Of NZL Clocks 1:54.40 LCM 200 Freestyle
  15. So I guess this is what it feels like to be a fan of the Norwegian mens cross country skiing team or German bobsleigh team
  16. and a silver in the 200m freestyle for MSH! So happy for her. Also a Canadian record.
  17. Silver for Summer in the 200m backstroke! Broke Masse's Canadian record in the process.
  18. Well this is McIntosh's first time racing short course metres since 2022 when she was 16 years old and hadn't yet broken any records so that explains those World Records Walsh, Crooks, and Douglass are all NCAA swimmers who train in yards all winter. I'm not sure how many times they would've competed in yards but it wouldn't have been a focus meet for them. Crooks won a gold at the 2022 World Championships but he's taken his swimming to a completely different level these last two years. Douglass competed in short course at the World Cups this year and instantly smashed the 200m breaststroke World Record. Ponti I have no clue. But having said that, there's definitely been an unusual amount of World records at this meet. Got to be the most at a meet since Rome 2009.
  19. I don't think I'll have the time, sorry
  20. Gold for Dandjinou in the 1000m Also bronze earlier in the mixed relay
  21. Yeah, I'll try to do one after all the 2025 winter world cups are over. Thankfully the winter version takes significantly less time and FIS makes my job easier as well by releasing their own simulations.
  22. Well one did advance to the women's 500m semifinals. Otherwise, they've been mostly non-competitive since the Liu brothers switched to China.
  23. This is Walsh's first time swimming in a 25m pool at a major competition. The only other time she's competed in short course metres was one mid-season meet in which she first broke the 100 IM World Record. Otherwise, she usually competes in a 25 yard pool at college events where she holds 5 individual world records and also beats her opponents by a similar margin as to what you're seeing here. She's just that good at short course racing.
  24. So we are up to 13 medals. We need 2 medals tomorrow to tie the record of 15 medals won at the 2021 championships and 3 to break it.
