  7. First day without any medals but not entirely surprising. With Marcoux hurt, there was only one real chance in the standing giant slalom but unfortunately Guimond DNF'd. Big win by the wheelchair curling team though! Should be a different story medal wise tomorrow though with the women's giant slalom, snowboarding and biathlon.
  8. If there's something I learned from the Olympics, it's that not watching Canadian curling improves one's mental health greatly
  9. Some useless trivia. With Mollie Jepsen and Mark Arendz winning gold medals, I believe every athlete in the Sobeys commercial has won a gold medal at the Olympics/Paralympics this year. Jepsen and Arendz join Nurse, Poulin, Parrot and Weidemann.
  10. Mark Arendz wins gold in men's 10km biathlon standing for Canada's 13th medal and 5th gold of these paralympics. This marks the first time that Canada has won more gold medals in the winter paralympics than the winter olympics from that same year since 1988. Also para hockey team finally gets its first win against Korea and will finish 2nd in group A.
  11. 6 medal day! Including 3 gold. McKeever gets his 14th career gold medal. Unfortunately, Mac Marcoux got hurt yesterday and is out of the games. Wheelchair curling team now 4-0
  12. Well, looks like our bronze medal winning ways are continuing over to the paralympics: 3 bronze medals today to bring the total to six medals. On another note, these games are starting to become a joke. China won one paralympic medal in its history prior to these games and now their athletes have come out of nowhere to win 18 medals already.
  13. Good first day for Canada with 3 medals: Gold for Mollie Jepsen in the women's standing downhill, silver for Mac Marcoux in the men's visually impaired downhill and bronze for Mark Arendz in the men's biathlon sprint standing. Unfortunately the para-hockey team isn't faring well against the US.

  15. Just a warning to the 1976 fencing champion himself that if he's reading this, he might want to leave. Alpine skiing Team event with a run on each course or else get rid of it. The 2022 edition was terrible seeing the blue course always win. I would also prefer the combined over the parallel slalom. Biathlon If I had to change one thing, maybe make the pursuit race be based on a round of shooting before hand (around 50 targets) instead of the results of the sprint. Or a separate race beforehand. I would also add 5 more quotas for each gender. Bobsleigh No over-powered German bobsled equipment. Otherwise it might as well just be an engineering competition. Cross-country skiing No changes. Curling Mixed doubles to 16 teams with two groups of 8. Figure skating Team event scoring in the free program section changed to 10-8-6-4-2 scoring. No changes happen at all with the current scoring once the short program is over. Freestyle skiing Mixed team aerials needs to go. Maybe also increase the quotas for slopestyle/big air and men's ski cross. Hockey Men's team rosters can probably trimmed down to 23 to save 24 (2*12) quotas. There's already reserves on sight anyways. Luge Women's doubles can be added once it is at a sufficient level which I don't believe it is at currently. +2 doubles teams to bring the total to 20. -3 quotas in both men's and women's down to 32. Nordic Combined Addition of women's nordic combined Short track speed skating Perhaps the addition of a 3000m event? Everything else looks fine. Skeleton No changes. Ski Jumping Goodbye mixed team NH, hello women's team NH. Also adding in 5 additional women's quotas for any NOC who only has 3 qualified athletes. Ski Mountaineering Excited to see this sport. I think the current program is sprint/distance for each gender + mixed relay? Sounds good to me for now. Snowboarding Bye bye mixed team snowboardcross. Add in the parallel slalom. Have both parallel giant slalom and slalom be two runs each. Men's halfpipe quota increased from 25 to 30. Men's slopestyle/big air quotas increased from 30 to 35. Men's snowboard cross quotas increased from 32 to 40 (as you can see, I love gender equality). Speed Skating Increase men's quotas by at least 10. There's already enough female quotas. Maximum number of athletes per country back to 10. 500m races should be two races. Mass start should be reworked. My idea was is to have it be an 80-100 lap race and after every 3-5 laps, the last skater or last couple skaters to cross the line is eliminated. The remaining skaters who are left fight it out for medals. Whoever finishes first after the end of the race wins. And most importantly get rid of the 2900 athlete cap and increase it to at least 3000.
  16. Canada How did your NOC perform in Beijing? Overall, a bit disappointing. 26 total medals is a good result. 4 gold medals was very disappointing. We already had very few gold medal chances heading into these games and many of them couldn't deliver. Was it better than expected or was it worse? As said above, the total medals were around as expected, maybe a bit above expectations. The 4 golds were well below expectations (yes, I know, us Canadians are spoiled). We had 11 gold medals in Pyeongchang. I was expecting around 6-7 but even that was too optimistic this time. What were the ups and downs, what were the highlights, what were the biggest disappointments? Pros: Women's hockey team Isabelle Weidemann (Speed Skating): 1 gold, 1 silver 1 bronze Steven Dubois (Short Track): also 1 gold, 1 silver 1 bronze Max Parrot (Snowboarding): 1 gold and 1 bronze after being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2018 Charles Hamelin (Short Track) with a gold medal in his last olympic race Jack Crawford (Alpine Skiing) with a bronze medal and 4th and 6th place finishes in other events Snowboard cross team winning 3 medals for the Canadian team Ivanie Blondin and Laurent Dubreuil (Speed Skating) rebounding after disappointing first few races Good overall performances by the biathlon and cross-country skiing teams, especially from the men Cons: Curling; What a disaster Men's hockey team; even without NHL players, I still expected more from them; first time since 2006 to not make the semifinals Ted-Jan Bloemen (not even close to his best at these games) Women's short track team Freestyle skiing in team (with a few exceptions); first time not winning a gold medal since 2002 Figure skating team (also with a few exceptions); first time not winning a medal since 1980. I probably forgot some things so other Canadians feel free to say something. What were the most emotional events for you? Who made a suprisingly good result? Never in my life did I expect to see a Canadian medal in ski jumping. Got emotional listening to the play-by-play call and seeing the ski jumpers reactions. Justine Dufour-Lapointe and Kim Boutin also had emotional interviews after not having the best results. I'm probably forgetting some others. Also got emotional seeing the women's hockey team celebrating their gold medal.
