  1. How very surprising, these results
  2. She was supposed to be coached by @brunamoura actually! They met last year in São Carlos in Brazil, where this Christine went to compete and Bruna helped her out with some basic stuff and such, and Bruna and two others took her for some fun stuff in the city. Very friendly woman, who has also helped us/Bruna quite a lot in the last weeks of Bruna's qualifying for the Olympics. The plan was to coach her in Lenzerheide and Ridnaun, help her out with things around the track, show her the ropes how things work during an IBU Cup (simple things like wax cabin protocols, where to eat and so on), probably even wax the skis, all those things. But yeah, then there was the accident and that plan fell through. Bruna had someone in mind to replace her in helping Christine out, but that someone tested positive yesterday and isn't going to Lenzerheide sadly.
  3. Svitolina played Potapova last night, in bright Ukrainian colours. Something like this has much more of a message than telling a random player from somewhere down the rankings "you can't play".
  4. I read yesterday that the 200 Dutch Stingers arrived and were being handed out to Ukrainian soldiers. Considering the Netherlands is not exactly a logistical miracle, I assume the other nations have had no real troubles in getting their stuff their neither..
  5. A 60km long convoy seems to have done just that...quite literally if you replace 'steam' with 'fuel'. This must be some sort of trap, surely the Russian army isn't so insanely amateuristic as they have been looking for the past week?!
  6. The other two times they recently did so didn't really lead to consequences in that regards though...I doubt they will now.
  7. So far that is what we're seeing here, yes.
  8. Apparently Hungary/Orban has joined the group of countries who want Ukraine to be quickly part of the EU? That sounds surprising, if true @Vektor What is Hungarian news saying about this? I assume that's more trustworthy than Twitter accounts here.
  9. Ah, that's why Kiev and such are being bombarded all the time.
  10. Apparently this young Ukrainian biathlete has died while fighting against the invaders. https://www.biathlon.com.ua/en/profile/5813-evgeniy-malishev
  11. And Belarus, 'funnily'. Interesting list of leaders throughout the years, this NAM
  12. Yep. Which I would normally applaud, because I'm a big fan of Diggins, but Nepryaeva really should be winning this World Cup..
  13. Russians going home. https://www.nrk.no/sport/bolsjunovs-trener-til-nrk_-_-vi-forlater-norge-1.15874271 Hopefully Nepryaeva's lead in the World Cup is big enough to get the rightful win..
  14. I'd have preferred to see these events cancelled altogether then, this is just nonsense.
  15. IBU so far handled it way better, letting them compete under NAR instead of RUS, way better than blocking them entirely...
  16. Tough choices. On one hand, it makes sense, on the other, it totally doesn't. One might better make Ukraine some sort of partner and still provide help, since actual membership is about way more than that (and has a lot more requirements Ukraine simply doesn't yet fulfill). Questions can be made about whether or not being attacked means requirements aren't there anymore. That's besides the thing of throwing a whole field of oil on the fire with this move...
  17. Exactly. Or well, make them compete under a neutral flag, we can't go around parading Russian and Belarussian flags and such...the only reason to take them out of sports is to try and create more unrest against Putin, but that's not likely to work I guess.
  18. How long does this thing need to go on in order for Russia and Belarus to be relegated so much that the Netherlands can move up?
  19. Yeah, exactly. I wasn't joking when mentioning the Red Wedding vibes...it's utterly insane to go for negotiations in one of the aggressor states from which the actual invasion was (partially) staged.
  20. I can barely think of Dutch artists, thinking of Ukrainian ones off the top of my head is a step too far
  21. If ever you wanted to see Red Wedding vibes in real life..
  22. Danila Semerikov (part of a Dutch team) had some interesting clothes during the open Dutch marathon championships in Sweden this weekend According to himself, those are just his normal clothes... Meanwhile in beautiful (for now) Baselga, Davide Ghiotto set the 10k track record at 13:25 minutes Saturday. That had been held at 13:38 by Bart Veldkamp, who with that race almost managed to take the European allround title from Dmitry Shepel in 2001 Good times
  23. Ah fuck no, we are going to get "World Cup is likely to be cancelled" the whole year now, aren't we? Damn Putin, I thought we were done with this now that Tokyo and Beijing Olympics were over
