  1. Ah, the Tour of Ecuador. We have Lenin, another Lenin, Stalin, Rommel and Leonidas in the battle https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/vuelta-a-ecuador/2021/stage-1
  2. The Netherlands will be represented by one S10. Never heard of her/him/them so I googled the name, but apparently it's got quite a nice look to it.
  3. Besides, does she mean not going or not qualifying? I mean, I do count three Germans....ahead of her.
  4. Anyway, that'll teach China! An athlete in one of the most obscure winter sports not coming, that is potentially threatening to the continuation of the Games.
  5. Nearly all of the top Dutch skaters have gone home to prepare for the OQT around Christmas, so they'll skip Calgary. This is done under the assumption the maximum number of quota are already certain, with the men's mass start (although Jorrit Bergsma went home as well) and the women's 3k as exceptions.
  6. Clara and Leni, in the Netherlands that reminds me of women who are at least in their 80's In fact, Lenie is apparently 8th in the period from 1880 to 1961 https://www.meertens.knaw.nl/voornamen/populair.html
  7. Cool @brunamoura has a little niece (2 years old now I think?) with that name, although the spelling might be slightly different, I'm not sure. Nice name indeed!
  8. Jan is absolutely an old school name here
  9. That list already consists of exactly one name here...also a girl's name, which would make it a huge challenge in case it'd be a boy because we have absolutely no clue despite several years of trying to come up with something
  10. And in the Netherlands I've never heard of a real-life Sem or Noah or Finn or Mees or Mila* or Yara in the Netherlands, but I guess I'm either living too much in the countryside where the popular city things are less popular or - most likely - I'm just not in contact with enough people, especially people with children *the neighbour's monstrous dog is called Mila, I believe, but I doubt that counts
  11. At least for the first time in years he truly had to fight for it, and not within his own team. Long ago since we've had a season like this, with edge-of-the-seat situations left and right.
  12. This circuit is on the edge of what should be allowed in terms of safety, but honestly I do actually kind of like it...it's nerve-wrecking, that's for sure. And we've got a new rule in F1 apparently: even when you have all the time in the world to react and avoid a collision, you can just hit someone hard in the back and not only get away with it, but even get rewarded for it Maybe Verstappen had to make way a little more and this would have been acceptable?
  13. That was quite the race. Verstappen cutting a corner and making a bit of an unusual move to give the position back, but Hamilton refusing to take the position in that moment (by choice obviously, since he knew taking the position would have given Verstappen DRS) and just hitting him in the back....only to complain about a brake test He had two seconds or so to react, that's not a brake test, at all. It was nonsense left and right, hopefully they'll just draw a line under this race, keep the result and move on to next week.
  14. I don't remember I've ever been this nervous before a race (and I've been watching since I was 8 or so)
  15. She's not even 15 years old yet, the times Angel Daleman is skating this season are...utterly bizarre. https://speedskatingresults.com/index.php?p=17&s=49350
  16. What's with the DNS for Slovakia? @hckošice
  17. Japan was well on their way to beating their own world record, but yeah...gotta stay on your skates.
  18. Dutch speed skating world was ready for the battle between Leerdam and Kok and a potential first ever sub-37 for a Dutch skater.....anticlimactic, Leerdam thought it was a false start and stopped, but it wasn't Kok went on and broke the 37-second barrier
  19. What did the Polish sprinters do this summer? Damn
  20. Well never mind, I'll stay in lockdown forever
  21. That was a truly epic 97% of a lap, holy crap... Fairly sure a good amount of remote controls and glasses of beer went flying through Dutch living rooms.
