  1. Judging by his results, I doubt he'll ever really be visible internationally, but the name is very interesting! Son of? If so, that would explain the Kazakhstan move as well, I believe the big Klevchenya has been Kazakhstan's coach at least for a while.
  2. The big button 'Qualification standings' right on the front page. https://www.diamondleague.com/wanda-diamond-league/qualification-and-schedule/
  3. Spectators, motorbikes, things just get worse every year it seems.
  4. "We let him do a full mountain stage with a suspected concussion, but no worries, our protocols work fine because we are taking him out of the race now."
  5. Honestly it's not like I don't find it interesting to watch, but the inherent unfairness in most para-sports (since often people with different disabilities compete in the same category to avoid having 1 million categories with 2 competitors) has sort of turned me off for a while now, together with the often relatively low level of competitiveness. Look at para-alpine skiing or something for example, so often one sees differences of 5+ seconds in between the medals.....I mean, it's great what they do, but I do want to feel some sort of competitive tension when watching sports Sure some disciplines have it, but in general the fields are just very, very limited. Which is good in a humane sense, since having equal numbers of top-level participants in para-sports would mean a lot more people having disabilities and that's not good And about Petrillo: the only thing I can say is that it's....interesting (for lack of a better word) to see the comments on social media. Like far-right weirdo Andy Ngo, who sees things like Petrillo's story and - as one can sense from Ngo's tweets - immediately runs to Twitter absolutely fuming, ramming down on his keyboard as angrily as possible to tweet out how awful it all is (personally I'm not sure I agree with the likes of Petrillo competing here, but if she's following the rules, there is zero reason to attack her personally and call her all kinds of disgusting and humiliating stuff like people on a certain side on social media so often like to do)
  6. Hello controversy (for the bronze) On the bright side of the controversy: a few more people now know about the existence of para-athletics.
  7. That goddamn motorbike that stopped Pogacar's attack (not to mention the idiot 'fans' with their toxic smoke bombs on the climb, luckily fewer than yesterday....) When do they learn, one may ask. At least the main part of the stage was entertaining, more or less. Tense downhill at the end, nice last 4km of the big climb
  8. Massive fall in the peloton, race neutralized because there are not enough ambulances available at the moment. Pedrero and Meintjes seem to be the main victims (no 'worries', but definitely injuries).
  9. No idea exactly what the 'duet technical preliminary' is in light of the entire competition, but surely this doesn't mean the Netherlands has an outside (even if only 0,5%) shot at a medal in artistic swimming of all things, does it?
  10. Yeah, it was exactly as boring as everyone expected in terms of GC fight, luckily at least someone in the breakaway got the win Too bad it was a pretty big name who won, it would have been a nice punch in the face of Gouvenou if the winner was a relatively unknown rider. Today is a lot more promising indeed, there is less opportunity to wait until the last 400 meters so that's already good
  11. It was another fun hilly stage yesterday Too bad today we get a junior stage, on the national holiday no less (although that doesn't have the effect on French riders it used to have anymore anyway)....Thierry Gouvenou, be very, very ashamed of yourself We used to have stages like these in the Vuelta for years on end, until they finally realized these stages usually suck balls (which the fans had seen quickly, but somehow the organizers used blindfolds for years).
  12. And this one would most likely go into the history books a lot nicer than Ugrumov's wins
  13. Not exactly a 'calm' run-up to the championships for Zambia. First the thing about captain Barbra Banda, who last year 'failed' a gender test (in so far one can 'fail' that, since it's not a performance), but will be allowed to play anyone since that decision is up to the national federations for whatever reason, and significantly worse: now the national team coach Bruce Mwape has been accused of rather serious behaviour. According to an anonymous player in the team: "If you wanted to keep your play in the selection, you had to have sex with the coach if he wished so." So yeah. Stuff is going on there.
  14. Judging by the things certain countries seem to do with their money, half the EU doesn't seem to want to be in the EU, so there should be some space within a few years anyway
  15. Talking about EU membership* Which is fine, no problem with talking about it. Not like it's going to happen anyway.
  16. Unbelievable. Well, not really, because it's not urban and fast-paced enough, but come on. Luckily it's at least not actually called 'Marathon swimming' as far as I see in the official things, since one can't have a 10k as maximum and call it that obviously.
  17. Checking Wikipedia for the schedule, but the 25k seems to be missing?
  18. Do they want that though? I always feel like especially in the east of Europe there's a ton of countries who like to criticize everything about the EU, but then do want to end up becoming a member (for the money, one would assume) And about NED - BUL in this case it's at least not because of nothing, Netherlands still has a bit of an issue with the tons and tons of insurance money that a group of Bulgarians frauded us out of
  19. Wait, the upper ring will be an actual running course? I don't know how to imagine that but it sounds awesome
  20. The Dutch cabinet has fallen last week, and now in the past minutes Mark Rutte has announced he will not be his party's leader at the next elections (probably in November or so), meaning he will leave politics. In favour or against him, it is absolutely the end of an era after almost one and a half decade. Interesting to see even someone like far-right populist Geert Wilders talk about him with a degree of respect. Not so much for his political views obviously, but for his overall authority and demeanor, specifically mentioning his handling of Russia's crime of shooting down the MH17 plane.
  21. According to said uncle, pigeons are smart enough to keep getting water and food and only leave when they feel they're strong enough to go back home (he said he'd had pigeons return after three months or so ) You got used, buddy. By a bird.
  22. The EuropeanGames.TV website has no kickboxing videos at all? I thought I'd give it a try just to see how far away it is from the pro sport, but seems like there isn't anything available.... Edit: I see WAKO's YouTube account has the whole finals day
  23. Talking to my uncle who has 30 years of experience with pigeons, and suddenly got curious how your pigeon is doing
