  1. http://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1017133/exclusive-athletics-has-number-of-competitors-cut-for-rio-2016 Tremendous job, they were only 650 athletes off
  2. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/aug/01/rio-2016-olympics-boxing-corruption-allegations?CMP=twt_gu tl;dr : Boxing was a mistake, it's nothing but trash
  3. Using next week ranking that's might be it (for instance Tsonga/Monfils overtaking Nadal/Lopez)
  4. 137 medals, that indeed sounds like an hell of a jump for a nation that has been very consistent around the 100 medals mark for the 5 or 6 last Olympics.
  5. You can find the complete list here 29 medals for Brazil... that's sweet.
  6. Makes sense really. It was reported earlier this week by the Times that the Russians came up with idea, sacrificing allready convicted dopers in the hope to avoid a blanket ban. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/russias-dirty-swap-deal-for-place-in-rio-bxz0mf8z3 Russia was also probably reassuring that no Russians will wome to CAS (hence the 4M rubel). But, I don't see why the IOC would have pay for it, most likely it's russian taxpayer's money. Edit: did they mentioned during the show the supposed appeal by the russian weightlifting federation ?
  7. I see, the Russians are playing the victimhood card to absurdity. Everyone and his mother knew that Zakarin was not going to get the green light from UCI. Russian sport is becoming less and less sympathic to my eyes.
  8. http://sputniknews.com/sport/20160730/1043777989/russia-appeal-weithlifter-olympics.html Not very surprising, but Russia will appeal their weightlifting ban. Good luck with that....
  9. Other clean athletes will be cut from the Olympics because of dopers. Come on, cheer a little bit, they will have the chance to discover the OG, the opening ceremony. Event, if they are not at the top of their game, it's still great for your giuys.
  10. http://www.lequipe.fr/Athletisme/Actualites/Dopage-la-championne-olympique-2008-du-lancer-de-marteau-aksana-miankova-positive/710824 Aksana Miankova (Gold, hammer throw 2008) busted. Her coach is accusing WADA to be a " terrorist organisation" ....
  11. Definitive answer to be given this week end during IOC meeting.
  12. http://sputniknews.com/sport/20160727/1043660373/russia-olympics-trampoline-makarov.html Russian trampolinists are good to go.
  13. Is there any particular reason why they chose to build a non-rectangular tennis stadium ?
  14. Nope, that will be... France (I applaud the trolling atempt by our brazilians hosts)
  15. For fuck's sake, no ! A athlete not getting caught only means he has not get caught, not that he is clean. We have an endless number of exemple of athletes doped to the eyeballs who have passed literraly hundred of tests and didn't get caught. That mantra really needs to die.
  16. For a more sensible answer that my earlier post here, between 38 and 48 medals Athletics: 3-4 Boxing: 2-3 Canoeing: 3 Cycling (BMX, Road, Mountain Bike): 2-3 Cycling (Track): 3 Equestrian: 1-2 Fencing: 3-4 Judo: 5 Modern Pentathlon: 1 Rowing: 1-2 Sailing: 3-4 Shooting: 1 Swimming: 4-5 Taekwondo: 2 Team Sports: 2-3 Tennis: 1-2 Other stuff (Archery, Diving, Triathlon, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Gymnastics...) : 1-2 Our record in modern times has been set in Beijing with 41 medals. I have good hope that we could beat that.
  17. Maybe, we could make a prediction contest out of it ? Something like horse racing perhaps ? 1 point for a correct nation, 3 points for a nation in the correct spot, bonus points for a correct top 3/5, extra points for the correct number of medals, etc.
  18. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/olympics/2016/07/25/russia-olympics-team-could-be-cut-to-40-as-ioc-backlash-grows/ An answear to the backlash of yesterday (and the very lazy job of some of the IFs) ?
  19. Indeed, tennis isn't athletics or weightlifting, these two sports have a somewhat marginal efficient anti-doping program. Tennis has not. It has a communication policy (that very rarely goes out of tracks like in Sharapova's case). Using it as a "very strict criteria" to judge the cleaness of any athletes is taking us for complete idiots.
