What doest it says about the IOC ? Are they really that desesperate to appeal to a new audience ? It's the mother fucking oltmpics for god's sake. Sports should be desesperate to be included not the other way around.

They might... Caledonia is having an independance referendum in 2018. Tahiti used to be run by an separatist politician. They are more likely to get independance one day than any other overseas territories.

It's worth noting that the best french surfers are usualy from Tahiti and ride under french polynesian flag during surfing competitions. We may have our own version of english/GB qualification mess here

You really have to wonder why they chose every time to use some of the biggest stadiums nationwide when smaller local stadiums will nicely fit the bill. Many of the footballers won't even see Rio. Must be really frustrating.
