  1. FFS. NOC*NSF leaves your athletes alone. I'm not even dutch, and I feel pissed off.
  2. The two franco-bulgarian matches today were... weird.
  3. Britain is one fight away to qualify 10 male boxers out of 10. Not bad, not fucking bad at all.
  4. EPO is the new viagra, every old people knows that Still, I don't know if she is still on the juice (doping at 57 yo seems like a very dangerous and slighty retard move to me), but come on, she is almost 60, she was/is a freak of nature.
  5. I've just learnt that the 57 years old Jeannie Longo is still competeting nowadays ! She just ranked 13th during the national time trial championship today. http://video.eurosport.com/cycling/57-year-old-jeannie-longo-competes-in-cycling-championship_vid812540/video.shtml Freaking incredible
  6. And that's it for France I thought for a moment that our youngsters could save the day against the Russians, but the Rowlandson-Krou olympic dream ends up here. Ah if Rowlandson didn't get injured last year, maybe they could had racked up enough point to secure a direct olympic spot. Maybe... well, that's life. I hope that R-K will stay around for Tokyo.
  7. Two french boxers in the quarters. Two losses, zero round won according to any judges. Clean sheet ! I guess it's better there are no additional rounds to found who is the 5th best boxer here. We still have a chance that way
  8. Yes, you're right. I'm a bit cynical about all this. But, indeed, IWF is at least trying (probably more than anyone else) The whole process is still a bit messy though.
  9. Oh well, I forgot about the recalculation points thing. The ride never ends, does it ? Thank you IWF to provide such exictement.
  10. http://www.ffhaltero.fr/Halterophilie/Actualites/La-France-decroche-un-quatrieme-quota-masculin-pour-les-Jeux-olympiques-de-Rio French federation annouced they received an extra male quota (and that they asking for an extra female quota). Interesting enough, it doesn't seem to be related to the possible ban of the russian/kazach/belarussian federations.
  11. http://www.lequipe.fr/Halterophilie/Actualites/Halterophilie-les-russes-prives-de-jeux-a-rio/698223 It seems so.
  12. Not necessarily Most of the dopers actually never win any medal. Considering the number of cases we have in this sport, the very heavy doping culture that is rife since pretty pretty much ever, it's safe to assume any weightlifter in Rio will be a doper unless proven otherwise (much like cycling at the end of the 90's)
  13. Please ,can we move from the not caught athletes = clean athletes mantra. Since the Armstrong case, it really something that has lost most of its substance. Considering the very weak efficienty of the doping tests, they can't be used as a defintive proof of the 'cleanness' of an athlete.
  14. Still, between the two pairs, you have probably enough manpower to secure that olympic spot. It's a pity that we have such a shit draw as I'd have fancy our chances in the Intercontinental tournament. In the meantime, our girls (well, Jupiter/Longuet) pulled quite an upset eliminating the russians
  15. From a french perspective, it could not have been worse... You rally had to lose that second spot to Mexico on the last day, do you ? Edit: looks better with a smilley.
  16. . As it stands, the first men's tennis tournament in 1988 was worse. Only three top ten tennismen were in Seoul
  19. Finaly, we have a wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_AIBA_World_Olympic_Qualifying_Tournament
  20. I don't understand how russian athletes could compete under the russian flag when there is no IAAF recognised russian athletics federation at the moment. You may remember the case of the franco-togolese canoeist who won a medal in Beijing. They had to create a togolese canoeing federation from scratch and makes it recognised by the ICF for him to participate under the togolese colors. And how russian athletes are supposely to make the olympics standards to start with ? That's very confusing
  21. France: Tsonga allready annouced he is not going to play the mixed double. Mladenovic announced she will play with Herbert (they playd together at RG), and Mahut more or less said he was going to pair with Garcia
  22. Yes, as far as I'm concerned.it will be better that way. The atmosphere should be much friendlier and the stadium should easely be filled up (they were still 40K spectators last year). The stadium is also in Paris proper, unlike the Stade de France.
  23. An off the field news: The former Aviva parisian meeting will move from the Stade de France to the much smaller Charléty Stadium (20 K, possibly to expand to 24K) from 2017 onwards. With the loss of their name-sponsor and Bolt on his way out, the french federation is looking for a much, much reduced bill (800 K€ at the moment). Besides the meeting was far from a full house the later years. Veteran athletics fans might remember the stadium from the Meeting de Paris which was held in that stadium up to the late 90's. The french federation is also looking to hold the 2020 euro championship in that stadium.
