  12. Knockout Stage, Final Single Leg, Match Highlights Rögle Ängelholm (SWE) - Tappara Tampere (FIN)
  13. EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS CROWNED AS RÖGLE TAKE DOWN TAPPARA The Catena Arena was abuzz as a sold-out crowd packed the venue to watch Rögle Ängelholm and Tappara Tampere battle it out for the European Trophy in the 2021/22 Champions Hockey League Final. Daniel Zaar scored in the first and again in the second to lift his club to their first CHL Championship. The first save of the game came just 26 seconds into the match-up with the first goal being scored just three minutes in as Rögle made the most of their homestand to take the lead. A smooth zone entry allowed Anton Bengtsson to wrist a shot on net where Christian Heljanko made the initial save, but Zaar was there to pounce on a juicy rebound, netting his first of the competition in his return to European hockey and give the home side some early energy. Quality scoring chances were had on both sides as play picked up in the opening stanza forcing Heljanko and his Swedish counterpart Christoffer Rifalk to make key saves as the battle for the European Trophy continued. Late in the period, with a little over a minute to go, it was Waltteri Merelä’s goal to score with a chance in tight to knot the game, but the puck fluttered wide and with 20 minutes gone, Rögle remained ahead by one. Bodies and blades continued to collide as play got underway in the second. Eight minutes in, Tappara flirted with fire as Kristian Tanus was called for a hooking penalty sending Rögle on the powerplay. The Swedes executed the extra attacker to perfection as Zaar notched his second of the game when the puck found its to way to him and then the back of the net, giving the hosts a two-goal cushion. Heljanko made a desperation save in the dying minutes of the second to keep the gap at two goals as Rögle left for the locker room 20 minutes away from claiming their first piece of CHL hardware. Despite the uphill battle before them, Tappara didn't wane in their efforts to claw their way back into the game as the puck dropped for the third. After failing to convert in the first, Merelä would have his chance again as a great entry pass from Anton Levtchi sprang him into offensive zone where he sniped one from the slot to cut Rögle's lead in half at 44:23. A powerplay for the visitors kept the crowd on their feet, but Rögle's penalty kill was up to the task, maintaining their lead as the period reached the midway mark. Following the kill, Dennis Everberg left the box with a chance to extend his team's lead as he skated in alone against Heljanko, but his backhand rang off the post. In a last ditch effort, the Finns pulled their netminder in favour of the extra skater with less than a minute to go. Rögle, however, had no thoughts of giving up the lead and with the clock winding down the cheers grew from loud to deafening as the team from Ängelholm became the third Swedish club to lift the European Trophy with a 2-1 victory over Tappara.
  14. Knockout Stage, Final Single Leg Tuesday 01.03.2022 - Result 19:00 Rögle Ängelholm (SWE) - Tappara Tampere (FIN) 2-1 (1-0, 1-0, 0-1)
  15. Wierer, most likely... she said she is going to take her decision during the Summer break, but I think in her heart she's already made her choice...and I fear it's not the one all of her fans would like to know...
  16. until today, the Russians competed in the Cairo world cup stage with no Flag and Anthem... I don't know if they're going to pull out from tomorrow, but I don't think so... I'm rather asking myself why the Russian criminal leading the ISSF hasn't resigned yet? even Usmanov in fencing finally did it...
  17. women's Individual 10m Air Pistol Gold: Anna Korakaki Silver: Esha Singh Bronze: Antoaneta Kostadinova Full Results page: https://www.issf-sports.org/competitions/venue/csevent.ashx?cseventid=15767
  18. 1) c'mon! Germany winning medals in women's epee is not that unusual, maybe it doesn't happen as often as in the past, but it's still pretty regular... however, I meant only that there were no new/surprising Nations winning the most medals, except for GBR (not looking at all at how many medals the "usual suspects" -ITA, FRA, RUS, HUN...even GER- won)...it wasn't an accurate analysis wepon by weapon... 2) considering what happened to our youth sports programs (especially in "contact sports") since the beginning of the pandemic, unfortunately that's gonna happen very often in the future... Italian perspective in Fencing has really changed in the last few seasons...right now, we're not even close to the talent factory we used to be... 3) considering the current situation, I'm more surprised they're competing at this event rather than they're not winning that much (and in general, coming the current generation close to an end and without Cerioni and his crew not working anymore for them, I expect Russian Foil -especially the women- to get results not even comparable to their golden era of the last decade)...
  19. this one was expected, more or less...
  20. tell me this is a joke! that must be a joke! OK...that's beyond my resilience...I just give up...
  21. SHOWDOWN IN SCANDINAVIA: TAPPARA VS RÖGLE IN CHL FINAL A fitting final as Swedes line-up against their neighboring Finns with the Champions Hockey League on the verge of crowning its next champions as Tappara Tampere make the trek to take on Rögle Ängelholm. Having competed and completed each stage set out during the campaign, it’s no wonder that both clubs are deserving of the title. Finally, after battling the best for the past eight months, overcoming curses, and surprising the CHL world, we’ll soon see one of them hoist the European Trophy to claim top honours. A Long Time Coming Visiting side Tappara made the most of this CHL campaign, advancing past the Round of 16 for the first time and then some with some incredible hockey against the likes of the Rouen Dragons and, most recently, German side Red Bull Munich. This year the Finns, who qualified for the CHL on the back of a 4th place finish in their domestic league, brought their compete level to new heights and showed why Finnish hockey is some of the best on the continent. Putting together an 8-2-1 record, including 3 victories on the road, Tappara are on the cusp of fulfilling Tappara Head Coach Jussi Taapola’s aspirations from August when he said, “Our goal is to make the Playoffs and then go on to win the CHL.” With the Playoffs in the rearview mirror, now all that needs doing is one more solid performance from a club that’s been every bit as advertised this year. That performance begins and ends with an entire team effort as well as the continued play of those players who’ve been productive for the Finnish side throughout the campaign. Kristian Kuusela, an alternate captain who’s spent most of the last decade donning a Tappara sweater, leads the team with 13 points (2G,11A) while Anton Levtchi, another fixture on the Tappara roster, currently sits with nine points (3G,6A) through 11 contests. On the backend, the Finns’ defence has done its job only allowing an average of 2.27 goals against per game, and their goaltending has been a beacon for Tappara with Christian Heljanko enjoying some of his best hockey, including two shutouts. Heading into Tuesday's match-up, however, some attention needs to be paid to their penalty kill as it’s struggled a bit. Staying out of the box will be to their advantage against Rogle’s uber-successful powerplay. No Place Like Home “In it to win it.” This was Head Coach Cam Abbot’s response when asked about his club’s mission coming into their debut campaign. As actions speak louder than words, Abbot’s assertion is now one game away from becoming a reality that will perpetuate the proud tradition of Swedish hockey dominance on CHL ice. This at one time dark horse team has done nothing but awe fans from around Europe as they’ve witnessed a group of talented youngsters and veterans alike take down clubs wielding years of CHL experience, including their fellow countrymen in Frölunda Gothenburg. Already with their own taste of success, Rögle have the chance to cement themselves in the annals of CHL hockey by capping off their near-perfect run in spectacular fashion with one more momentous victory on home ice. Fortunately for the Swedish side, the Catena Arena has been a bastion this campaign with five out of their six games going in the win column. Ludvig Larsson, Adam Tambellini, and Leon Bristedt currently lead the forward group with Larsson’s five tallies and nine helpers giving him 14 points through 12 tilts while Bristedt (3G,9A) and Tambellini (5G, 7A) sit 2nd and 3rd respectively. They’ll be the ones to watch, especially on the man-advantage, as Rögle attempt to break through Tappara’s tough defence. Speaking of defence, Rögle’s Lucas Ekeståhl Jonsson has been nothing short of sensational amassing 13 points (2G, 11A) through 12 games to lead all CHL defencemen in points coming into Tuesday's contest. As the CHL gears up for its 7th Final, these two clubs, with obstacles overcome and challengers bested, will be vying for that which all 32 clubs strove for from the beginning – a chance to be crowned the best in European hockey. Don't miss the action as the puck is set to drop later Today at 19:00 CET!

  24. Yes, Ava Emanuel is one of the 3 Dutch girls that competed in the women's Junior Foil... Elise Butin Bik was the best among them, reaching the knockout stage, where she lost in the round of 64 against the Russian Anastasia Beznosikova with the score of 15-3...at the end of the day, she ended up in 51st place... Valerie Buijse and Ava Emanuel, instead, were eliminated already after the pool stage and ended up in 73rd and 75th plce, respectively... Tomorrow they will enter the team tournament, too...in the round of 32 they will face Sweden (on paper it's not an impossible matchup)... in case they beat the Swedes, no.1 seed Russia are awaiting in the round of 16...
