  7. a) also the previous rounds suffered the same problem...it's not just today, it's all week long that they're racing in totally unfair conditions all of today's races were basically determined by the draw in the preliminary heats b) we are not talking of a small percentage of possible upsets (as it would be normal), we're talking of 0, absolute 0 boats from 33% of the field (2 lanes out of 6) and also lane 4 just saw 6 qualifiers and only in 3rd place (which means lanes 5 or 6 in the final = 0 medal chances at all in these conditions) c) also among the top seeds, 13 wins in lane 1 and only 3 in lane 2 is unprecedented, it's an insane percentage of superiority from 1 position over another when we're talking of the best 2 crews (on paper) of the championship, the main gold & silver medal contenders that's never happened before, even in some of (in)famous places where it's quite normal racing in unfair conditions basically, it's like watching the good old 200m indoor in athletics, when the final result was more often than not a scale from lane 6 down to 1 (with lanes 2 and 1 with 0 chances of a medal in the history of the discipline)
  8. no, did they really make this move, too? OK, just another sport to be cancelled from my schedule... fuck that! if they go on like this, I'm going to be left without anything to watch...it's gonna be padel time, I guess!
  9. what a farcical day (week) of rowing basically, the draw in the preliminary heats did it all once you got stuck in lanes 5 and 6, the championship was over even before the start with a draw in lane 3/4, a miracle was needed to avoid the repechage round (and therefore being always in the less favourable lanes in the following rounds) and day after day, weather conditions are more and more unfair this is a recap of this morning's Olympic races with the lanes that won the places in the final (and at the Olympics): women's Pairs SF #1: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 4) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 3 - 2) men's Pairs SF #1: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 4) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 4 - 3) women's LW Double Sculls SF #1: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 4) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 3 - 2) men's LW Double Sculls SF #1: (Lanes 1 - 3 - 2) SF #2: (Lanes 2 - 3 - 1) women's Fours SF #1: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 3) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 3) men's Fours SF #1: (Lanes 2 - 1 - 3) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 3) women's Quadruple Sculls SF #1: (Lanes 2 - 1 - 3) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 4) men's Quadruple Sculls SF #1: (Lanes 1 - 2 - 4) SF #2: (Lanes 1 - 3 - 2) as you might see, no boat from lanes 5 or 6 has qualified, only a few from lane 4 (and almost all of them only in the first events, before 10.30 a.m.) and 13 out of 16 heats winners completed their race in lane 1 moreover, all this sh*t already killed at least 3 (if not 4) boats in the B-Final where only 1 more OQP will be awarded (those not racing in lane 1 or 2 will never have a chance) this is UNACCEPTABLE!
  10. as far as I've seen, all the French boats are definitely out of shape here...I don't think they would match any of the pre-Regatta predictions however, that's just my prediction (and I'm famous for guessing always wrong, so our friend should be happy for what I wrote) p.s. I think you heavily underestimated the pride of Italian rowing so far p.p.s I never mentioned the Continental qualifiers, but only the final World Qualifying Regatta in Luzern
  11. p.s. Daily Pass for the upcoming World Champs is 5€, the full Tournament Pass is 15€ just another sport to be cancelled from my schedule

  14. LW2X close to 0 M4- might have some chances, more by coming in the top 3 in the semis than winning the eventual B final, tbh it might come down to a close fight against for the 3rd spot in the semis (if our guys confirm the surprising level they hit in the prelims, which is a big "if") if you qualify 2 or more boats here, you can only qualify 1 more boat at the final qualifying regatta
  15. so, let's give a look to the men's -61kg OQR Li Fabin stays on top with 314kg, 6 kilos more than what he lifted today (I guess he's just keeping something in the tank for the Asian Games) now have 3 men in the top 5, since Chen Lijun's 310kg are also untouched from Today's event and Ding Hongjie hit 301kg as a new entry the best non-Chinese lifter in the ranking now is Today's silver medallist Sergio Massidda with 302kg (nice improvement from last year's world), he's the 3rd overall in this class Erko Yuli Irawan is now 3rd in the 1-per-Nation ranking (5th overall, for what it counts) with 300kg Theerapong Silachai is still high in the ranking with 299kg, despite today only sustained a competitive training in group D Shota Mishvelidze climbed the OQR up to the 5th National representative with the new PB of 297kg, followed by John Ceniza, who improved his record up to 296kg Ivan Dimov, Teerapat Chomchuen broke in the top 10 with 293kg (unfortunately for him, the Thai man is still only the 2nd of his Nation), as did Trinh Van Vinh with 292kg and Aniq Kasdan, Arley Calderon with 291 meanwhile, Hampton Miller Morris (bombed out, stuck on the previous 290kg), Jhon Jairo Serna Mendoza and Aznil Bidin dropped out of the provisional qualifying positions so, the new top 10 Nations in this class are:
  16. I think he's been extremely lucky with his 160kg effort in C&J, given how strict were the judges Today I still can't understand why Mishvelidze's 2nd lift in snatch was called a "no lift", meanwhile I can't believe they gave the 3rd lift in C&J good to the Uzbek man (the only truly wrong call)
  17. nice and close (for Silver and Bronze) competition in the men's -61kg class Li Fabin dominated this event with 308kg in the Olympic Total (141kg in the snatch, 167 in C&J) Sergio Massidda won a wonderful silver with a Total of 302kg (137 + 165) bronze in the Olympic Total also went to (sorry, I don't remember his name, as he lifted in Group B ) snatch Gold went to Li Fabin, meanwhile the C&J Gold went to Hampton Miller Morris (who bombed out in the snatch, despite starting with the lowest weight in group A) but the most important outcome from Today's competition is that the OQR of this weight class has seen some dramatic changes (we'll analyze them later, when the full results are up, also because some of the top ranked athletes were in Group B)
  18. and in SF #1 (3rd spot is very open, I hope but I don't trust them at all) and in SF #2 ( should get the 3rd spot, but might sneak in into the top 3 as well) in any case, if the weather is like today, the lane draw will do it, as there's too much disparity between the lanes 1-3 and the others (Today, good 90% of the races had the boats in the lanes 1-3 also in the top 3 of the rankings, with very few exceptions...and not only because they were the top seeds)
  19. yeah, way better than expected but it's only a first step most of these boats won't even qualify to the Olympics...and the medals are far away from our capability (with 2, maybe 3 exceptions) however, having 12 of our 13 Olympic boats (in 1 event we didn't participate) in the top 12 of the World is great, it means that our rowing is still very good on average unfortunately, right now we miss a few absolute top class rowers to build 2 or 3 crews being consistently a gold medal threat
  20. Part #2 men's Eights (5 OQPs, Top 2 Advance to the Final, already through to the Top 6) Repechage Heat: men's Lightweights Double Sculls (7 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2:
  21. and here we go with the men's Semifinals Lineup: men's Single Sculls (9 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: (AIN2) SF #2: men's Pairs (11 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: men's Double Sculls (11 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: men's Fours (7 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: men's Quadruple Sculls (7 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2:
  22. Part #2 women's Lightweights Double Sculls (7 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2:
  23. and this the schedule for the Semifinal heats: women's Single Sculls (9 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: (AIN1) women's Pairs (11 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: women's Double Sculls (11 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: women's Fours (7 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: women's Quadruple Sculls (7 OQPs, Top 3 Advance to the Final) SF #1: SF #2: women's Eights (5 OQPs, Top 4 Advance to the Final, already through to the Top 6) Repechage Heat:
  24. I think precision sports can be classified as a broader interpretation of "stronger" (to be intended that in those sports you have to be "mentally stronger" than your opponent to beat him/her) for what concerns skateboarding and all the other artistic sports, you've already got the point: if artistic gymnastics and diving already have a clear set of codes and rules to help the judges to be (theoretically, only theoretically) fair in their job and help the audience to understand at first sight (almost, at least) which move/exercise is more difficult (and deserves to be evaluated with a higher score) than another, why the other disciplines of the same kind haven't yet? imho, it's fair to say that they shouldn't be on the Olympic program at least until they get some basic fair set of codes like artistic gymnastics and diving...then, we can discuss about what deserves to be in and what not
  25. not many moves in the women's -49kg OQR today's winner is surely Rosegie Ramos, who finished the championship in 7th place but, above all, improved her record to 188kg (Total), which is good enough to climb the standings up to the 9th useful place very unlucky effort instead by Lin Chen Jing and Fang Wan-Ling, who both improved themselves up to 186kg and 185kg respectively, which means that right now they are the 1st and 2nd below the qualification line unfortunately, also Giulia Imperio couldn't improve her record, repeating once again her PB of 183kg and sitting right behind the 2 girls from just outside the qualification mark (187kg at the moment) finally, no changes at the top of the standings, however all the 3 medallists from Today ( Jiang Huihua, Hou Zhihui and Jourdan Elizabeth De La Cruz) consolidated their positions with huge improvements of their records
