  1. They are showing their abilities here because Govt. has decided not to send them to Olympics. Minimum requirement was 5 TKOs and 13 Gold medals. Since it was not met, we won’t be sending any Boxer to Tokyo.
  2. Welcome to Boxing. Ideally, it makes no sense but sadly it happens more often then you would think.
  3. Delhi WC has been postponed. Now, there will be two separate WCs in Delhi. Shotgun WC same time as Munich WC and Rifle/Pistol WC same time as European Shotgun Championships. There is still no clarity on how these changes will affect rankings. ISSF is considering extending ranking period to include Delhi WCs along with Baku and Munich WC in final Olympic qualification ranking. But not finalised yet.
  4. To be frank, I think Gaurav was better today. Amit was extremely lucky to win while Gaurav was unlucky to lose. Being seeded helps whether it is AIBA or not.
  5. If you check this file, it is clear that there are box-offs for all places. For 69, 75 and 81kg divisions, there are box-offs (semifinals) on 10/03 and box-offs (finals) on 11/03
  6. 61 kg: Fight for Gold 67 kg: Chen Lijun favourite for Gold 73 kg: Shi Zhiyong huge favourite for Gold 81 kg: Either of Lyu/Li huge favourite for Gold 96 kg: El-Bakh isn't far from Tian. If Moradi manages to qualify, another Gold medal contender. If not Moradi, then Rostami has also lifted 403 recently. No Gold medal contender in last two categories So, I think 67, 73 and 81 are confirmed for China. For 4th spot it would be between Tian and Li Fabin.
  7. Tulsi is a non-factor. She is just hoping to stay till Hawaii primary to create a base for either Senate run or Governor run in the future. And Tulsi is (was) close to Bernie. IIRC, she had endorsed Bernie in 2016 and was one of the prominent speakers in his favour at last DNC.
  8. I am not so sure. I think Bernie might run as an independent. But if he doesn’t, majority of us knew that you will vote for Biden in November. Its just that you didn’t want to accept that.
  9. To be honest, this shows that Biden is indeed the best candidate. His numbers are impressive in 2 of Bernie’s key demographics: Very liberals and Independents. Even in young people, his numbers are not that bad, second best behind Bernie.
  10. Same happens in India. If you are in line by deadline, you get to vote. In practice, you can show up at polling booth even after deadline, as long as polling booth is active and vote.
  11. He is hoping for big wins for Trump and Tulsi.
  12. Trump shifted embassy to Jerusalem while Sanders considers Israeli settlements illegal. Jews are without doubt one of the most left-leaning bloc but be prepared for a shock in Trump v Sanders.
  13. I don’t even know what is Skeleton and Bobsleigh. Only thing I know about Luge is Shiva Keshavan.
  14. I think Bernie would be able to retain the Black/Hispanic vote. Not sure what is the voting preference of Jews but I think it normally leans towards Dems but may swing to Trump in case of Trump v Bernie. Another Dem group that might swing to Trump or abstain instead of voting for Bernie is Indian-Americans, but only first generation ones. But both these groups are not that big in number that it would make any difference. Biggest issue for Dems is how many moderates and independents would vote for Bernie and what impact would selecting an independent have on party structure.
  15. I have another question, why is DNC using this complicated unfair system to select presidential nominee instead of direct vote count?
  16. Game of Thrones redux
  17. Bhutan is a constitutional monarchy. Three different parties have won the three general elections in Bhutan since switch from absolute monarchy. Nepal’s present constitution after a bitter civil war in which Maoists were fighting a violent war to overthrow the existing regime is only couple of years old. So, early to comment on how it will pan out.
  18. Olympic qualifier wrestling tournament in Bishkek cancelled over coronavirus
  19. Yes, I always check the reallocation pdf only. Reason I am giving Diksha 70-80% chance: I think some unknown person can also overtake her with just a couple of decent persons. Also, there is not much depth in Ladies Golf, so there won't be many withdrawals. For Men: I am sure a decent number of professionals will withdraw. So, I think we have 70-80% chance there as well. I am expecting 4 golfers to qualify. 1 in each gender is almost guaranteed. Would be extremely unlucky to miss out on 2nd in both genders. But there is a possibility that we miss out on 2nd quota in atleast one of the genders.
  20. I won't support any amendment to Indian Constitution which would make Muslims or other minorities second-class citizens in India. 20% of Indian population is minorities and they are equal citizens of India. And I don't blame you or others for believing that Modi is evil. Its not your fault when even respected people have indulged in horrible propaganda about it. To give an example, after 2002 riots, Arundhati Roy, celebrated author, Man Booker Prize winner, kept on recounting a story about how a Hindu mob ripped open a pregnant lady's belly, took out the fetus, burned it alive and then raped the lady. Any sane person would be disgusted on hearing this. And when a person of Arundhati Roy's stature is telling the story, no one will think that it is fake. A number of Indian journalists, authors, well-wishers across the political spectrum tried to find out the details of the case, so that swift and exemplary justice could be done in the case. Lal Krishna Advani, then Home Minister of India, and Narendra Modi's political mentor also tried to contact Arundhati Roy to find the details. Arundhati Roy could never give definite details of the case. No name of the victim, no name of witnesses who saw it, no name of place where it happened. All these details would either keep on changing or were kept vague. Till date, she has neither recanted the story nor given details. There are numerous such examples.
  21. At present we are on track to qualify 4 golfers to Tokyo. 2 in both genders. Rashid Khan is at 53 in IGF Olympic rankings, after deducting players not eligible due to NOC limit. Udayan Mane is at 60. Sharma and Kapur are R2 and R3. I expect a decent amount of professional golfers will skip Olympics, so we are in decent position to get atleast 1 men Golfer. Realistically, 2 is feasible. Aditi at 38 is almost surely qualified to Olympics. Diksha is at 57 at present. I think there is not much depth in Ladies Golf, so one decent result can push someone else in qualifying spot, so Diksha is not safe but there is hope. So, we should qualify 2-4 golfers for Olympics.
  22. So, I am assuming we would be welcomed like this:
  23. Hindu nationalists want Uniform Civil Code while Indian seculars want the present system where all religions have their separate Civil Code. Hindu nationalists want that Government should not run any places of worship while Indian seculars want the present system where Government can take-over any Hindu temple/trust/charity but cannot do so with minority places of worships/trusts/charity. Hindu nationalists want Article 29-30 of Indian constitution gone while Indian seculars want the present system where minority education institutions have full autonomy and are no subject to Government regulations and reservations that Hindu run educational institutions have to face. Hindu nationalists think India is an ancient civilization while Indian seculars think that the land that is India at present was wasteland in the past which was enriched only by invading Central Asian raiders and western colonial powers. They think that India is an artificial construct of the British territories in South Asia.
