  1. GB officially loses its silver in the relay. Canada up to silver, China up to bronze. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/feb/18/team-gb-lose-4x100m-olympic-silver-after-ujah-doping-confirmed#:~:text=Britain's men's 4x100m relay team,at summer or winter Games.
  2. Technically, you could say every event in the 1940 SOG was cancelled.
  3. Back to the SOG, GB has officially stripped of their silver in the 4x100 relay, so Canada moves from bronze to silver.
  4. Kripps into 3rd after 2 runs, but it'll be very hard to move up. I know this sounds like complaining, but watching bobsled is frustrating because it doesn't really matter if anyone runs better than the Germans, their equipment will always get them down faster. I have a friend who was a luger and he said you could go down completely clean and the Germans could bounce all over the place but it didn't matter because he was using sleds 4 years behind theirs.
  5. It's sad, but not entirely surprising after Kingsbury was robbed. He earned gold, just wasn't awarded it.
  6. [hide] Knockout Round February 15th - February 20th, 2022 Bronze Medal Match Date & Time (GMT +8) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 February 19th 2022, h. 21:10 Sweden 2 Slovakia Gold Medal Match Date & Time (GMT +8) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 February 20th 2022, h. 12:10 Finland 1 ROC [/hide]
  7. Right, like I said it was a nice show of sportsmanship but it's not like he threw away a gold to do it. He knew he wasn't close to the podium and there was nothing to gain. Good job, though.
  8. This is ridiculous with the wind. Call it off, hold scores after this round, do two more rounds tomorrow.
  9. Thought Sweden had it. Oh well.
  10. Or after scoring 4 in the first end (and 3 in the 10th end).
  11. Nice sportsmanship by Verbij, but it's the rule. He would have been DQed if he tried to carry on because Drubreuil had the right of way. In any case, if they were even at that point and Drubreuil was going to the inside lane and ended up 2nd, there's no way Verrbij had a chance at the podium going to the outside lane.
  12. Oh my lord, GB. How do you give up 3?
  13. There wasn't really anything they could do. Sweden actually did a good job to make it really hard for GB to score, GB just made some amazing shots.
  14. Holy shit! What an end GB/SWE! Both teams making amazing shots, GB comes out way on top.
  15. Well, Norway may have broken our shared gold medal record, but Canada tied the bronze medal record today (ROC is there, too). If a certain country is ultimately DQed from figure skating, we may have already broken it. Hey, we need this!
  16. De Bruin in 4th after 2 runs, but significantly off the top 3. The Germans are crazy, their runs are terrible but they gain time. Great equipment.
  17. Geez, the Germans could go down the track sideways and still be top-3.
  18. This marks the first time a male and female Canadian earned medals in individual speed skating events since 1998. Speaking of which, Drubeuil's turn in the 500 reminded me of Jeremy Wotherspoon. Wotherspoon is one of the best sprint speed skaters of all time, earning multiple world records and world championship medals in the 500 and 1000 over several years. Yet, he had horrible Olympics, even falling once, and only has one silver in the 500 (1998). Truly one of the most prolific athletes to never get an Olympic gold in his sport. If you think missing gold after one great season is bad, imagine missing it after dominating several in a row.
  19. I believe with Norway's gold in biathlon they've now broken the record for most golds at a WOG (previously 14).
