  1. This is the best possible guesstimate.....
  2. I was guessing about atheletics..... What does the group feel
  3. Yes actually we should be talking about the size of the olympic Squad of India by now with just 4 months left ...... I think In 2016 we had the largest olympic team of all time ....This time I feel we will have more ............... The good thing is India is active in over 272 events ....... ( when I say active we have at least a top 100 individual player or a top 30 team in the following sports )( left out completely those we are not so active in, I believe by Paris 2024 we will definitely have quota places in those marked black like track cycling or sprint canoeing ) The variance tells us sports we have got better in or worse in ( except atheletics where I believe the lowered number is because of a reduction in quotas ) Events 2016 2020 variance Swimming 37 2 2 0 Archery 5 4 6 2 Atheletics 48 34 20 -14 Badminton 5 7 7 0 Womens Boxing 5 0 5 5 Mens Boxing 8 3 7 4 Canoeing Sprint 12 0 Cycling Track 12 0 Equistrian 6 0 1 1 Fencing 12 0 1 1 field Hockey 2 32 32 0 Golf 2 3 3 0 Gymnastics 14 1 0 -1 Judo 15 1 1 0 Rowing 14 1 2 1 Sailing 10 0 1 1 Rifle shooting 5 5 7 2 Pistol Shooting 5 4 7 3 Shotgun Shooting 5 3 2 -1 Table tennis 5 4 4 0 Taekwondo 8 0 Tennis 5 4 2 -2 weightlifting 14 2 2 0 Freestyle Men Wrestling 6 2 5 3 Freestyle women Wrestling 6 3 5 2 Greco Men wrestling 6 2 3 1 272 117 125 8
  4. I think you can look at the outbreak in five distinct phases...... First only Wuhan and hubei...... Second rest of China Third South Korea / Japan and diamond princess Fourth Iran and Italy Fifth - core western Europe ( France / Germany / Switzerland /UK / Spain / Netherlands / Belgium) It is clear than china seems to have contained the virus reporting less than 20-30 cases daily Then Korea - japan seem to have also contained the outbreak..... Just 150-200 cases I think right now the outbreak is rampant in Italy / Iran with more than 4000 plus cases today The cases in Western Europe are again close to 4500 cases between these countries..... Most of the other countries are mostly getting travels from the outbreak regions which is totalling the last 1000 odd..... If we are able to cut the cases in Iran + western Europe the rest will fall in place...... Provided US or Scandinavia does not get into the explosive growth phase .... Both seem to going there.... ?.....
  5. I think UK is being rather brave or dumb depending on your point of view ..... Two major sports events..... Boxing European qualifier and badmintons all England both on........ Stuff upper lip ??
  6. I was not getting through to totallympics since morning ( tried 3-4 times) and I felt this is it..... Sindo has got corona........ ?..... Luckily totallympics came back ?
  7. Yes iran is kind of just keep on going on corona
  8. The only positive I see currently is that far East as a region has really tapered the outbreak..... Around 140 fresh cases reported till now today ( I think given the time difference this is it for the day) in China + S Korea + Japan..... Which is remarkable as they were doing around 4000 cases daily themselves.... The problem is that Western Europe has started reporting those kind of numbers now.... If it can be controlled there we can taper Carona
  9. Sorry to hear that bro...... Also being a training facing a lot of cancellations, still not a complete ban in India as of now ?
  10. Well India have a chance to make history.... No country ( after the women's have been added) has ever qualified a full 13 member team..... Kaz in 2016 got 12 and US in 2012 had qualified 12 .... Can India do 13 .. ... In my opinion we can easily qualify the two lighter weights in both woman ( sonia instead if sakshi) and men ( gaurav) ... It is the 81 and 91 men which is tough...... Sumit Sangwan ( in place of Naman) and? ...... Exciting prospect is Vijender ( Olympic bronze medallist of beijing) who turned pro and is now one of the leading middle weights in the world...... He has said that he is interested and has said if he is given exemption from camps he will be happy to fight for national selection....... Wow hope that happens as this is a chance to make history for India......
  11. Thanks bro...... Do not get it right as often as some of the others.... So made me happy this time
  12. Pretty happy with my prediction ..... I think I was bang on ? and pretty much with who would qualify given in my detailed analysis...... I had said gaurav, naman, sachin and one of the two girls sakshi / simranjit would not......
  13. I wish countries would go badass and stop this corona in its tracks..... This for Hungary and with just 13 infections till now Hungary declares State of Emergency: [source]- closes all Universities- bans indoor events for more than 100 people- bans outdoor events for more than 500 people- stops flights, trains and buses from Slovenia and Austria- tightens control of the border with Croatia- requires quarantine for Hungarian citizens returning from Italy, Csome of , South Korea and Iran I think India is doing it's bit.... They are checking every person entering the country, stopped issuing visa to some of the countries, following on every corona case immediately and checking all contacts...... We have a huge work emigrant group and fairly a large number of tourist so very big & difficult as if now . But just as of now seem to be relatively ok...... Do not bet on the future but I think if every country brings the new infection rate down, they can taper this virus......... I think they are losing billions in events, tourists etc ...... It is really worth the effort..... Difficult to taper once the virus reaches hundreds of new cases daily as Italy is finding out.....
  14. Great result for IRI.... ( @MHSN ) . Two qualifiers today.... I thought mousavi boxed very well.... Did not rush into clutches ..... Well done..... And Usmonov of TJK too qualied as expectedq
  15. Great result ?
  16. I was looking at the boxing qualification for 2020 ..... India has a decent chance to make history...... Ever since women's boxing has been introduced in 2012 no nation has qualified a full team of 13 ..... Kazakhstan had 12 in Rio and US had 12 in London.... Today Manish and Sachin try to make the qualifiers I hope we can get one more..... After that I personally feel gaurav solanki is a brilliant boxer and in 57 women's we have two silver medallists in the world level sonia lather and sonia chahal I feel either of them can be a easy bet to qualify at the world qualifiers...... I think Sakshi was unimpressive.... Possibly her first major senior event and she may find her feet later... But still either of the two sonias could be better As for 91 Naman has to dropped if we have to have a chance....he is by a long shot the weakest Indian boxer in this team....... Sumit Sangwan who boxes in this weight now could not participate in the selection as he was in a drug suspension but that has now been overturned..... I feel Sumit can make it easily...... So that leaves Sachin and Manish.... ?....Manish has a tougher bout than Sachin.... He is against Garside who beat him in the Commonwealth finals.... Sachin is against the TJK who is good but not great.... Let's hope he makes it as he will have a tougher time at the world qualifiers than Manish ......
  17. That's good news ?
  18. great job by Simranjeet she really was great
  19. Taipei seems to having these really tall women boxers - Lin , Huang and now Wu...…. and they all seems to win …...
  20. Lovely lovely bout by Magnificent Mary ……… This women has the best intelligence I see in a women boxer …… at times may lack of the reach for the 51 kgs ( she made her reputation in the 46/48 where she would be peerless ) but still what a boxing brain
  21. I liked the Broadcaster speakers this time , pretty outspoken in comparison to the AIBA broadcasters who tended to be more guarded ……. I think most of the fights which are very close can go either way as the points for technical and tactical superiority tend to be a bit subjective I felt for example Gaurav solankis fight in the prelims against the UZB I would have given the fight to the Indian , but Sakshis fight in the prelims against the THAI I would have given it to the THAI but still not a clear one sided bout being scored completely the other way … where you have 2 judges ( the judges not bought scoring 30-27 or even 30-26 ) for the losing boxer and anybody who sees the bout would say that the losing won clearly in fact at times overwhelmingly ……. the other three cleverly scoring 29-28 for the winning side ……. So a positive for boxing I would say
  22. … If you look at the Jordanians in general -There were 6 of whom 2 were seeded and hence did not meet UZB / KAZ out of the remaining 4 unseeded JOR boxers ….1 met with a UZB another was to meet with MGL ….. so 2/4 did meet some of the nations you specified … ( you cannot then say hey it is suspicious that these two did not meet these nations ….. In fact it would be suspicious if every unseeded JOR met with UZB / KAZ etc) So speaking strictly for me I found the draw reasonably fair …...
  23. Well hope to get 2 today in the women's ?
  24. Wow talk about only presenting part of the facts : you are presenting just the easy fights and ignoring the difficult fights : they also had fights against KOR, UZB, JAP, AUS, THAI ... The TJK boxer by the way was the Asian championship winner so that was not easy fight as well...... The SAM ah tong had defeated the IRI in the first round so a decent boxer too..... All the bouts were fairly judged as far as I could see....there was none of the clear cheating ... Also JOR did win 2 medals in the last Asian championship.... So not an incredibly huge leap to qualify 4 .... Crowd energy does help a bit...... But none of that horrible AIBA judging for sure this time. . .. The draws were fair as well....... Take obadeh of JOR... His first fight was against the Asian Games bronze JAP, then the TJK Asian champion.... No way is that an easy draw.... You can watch the bouts they were fairly judged
