Simone Manuel wins 50 FS in 24.13.
Question - Since she is now in an individual event, does that open up another relay-only spot for US women (i.e. De Loof)?

So much for all the talk about the US women beating the Australian women
I do like the US women’s chances in the medley relay.

I love the NBC swimming commentary team. Still think that 400 free women will be tight in the Olympics. Titmus is so above Ledecky it wouldn't even be close.
You're right, but they are US announcers talking to a US audience, and Rowdy is a bit of a homer. NBC also wants to hype this race so the casual fans will watch on the first day.

This page says it will be on France TV and BeINsport
Maybe us foreigners can watch on france.tv using a VPN? Works for Roland Garros.
VPN works fine for France TV but you do have to register on the site with e-mail, and give a French code postal.

From news yesterday.
Paris wanted an AC-free Olympics. Visiting nations had other plans.
Some delegations feel uneasy about relying on a more sustainable French geothermal cooling system.

The following athletes are confirmed to receive their Olympic medals at Champions Park on August 9 2024 because of disqualifications due to doping:
-
London 2012 – Athletics, Men’s High Jump
- Gold: Erik Kynard (USA)
- Silver: Derek Drouin (CAN)
I'm happy to see Erik Kynard on this list. In the past, he had expressed some negative feelings about being upgraded. I'm glad to see he will finally accept the gold. Then I wonder why Barshim is not listed as getting silver. I've wanted to see the new 2012 Olympic gold medalist on the podium with the 2016 and 2020 gold medalists joining him.

They forgot numbers 3 1 2
I'd say more like following recent custom. They haven't been putting numbers on the podiums for quite a number of years.

Skateboarding Men's Street could be a Japan sweep or a US sweep. Podium looking like it would be some mix of the top 3 from those teams.
Maybe a sprinting sweep, 100m or 200m for US Men? Or am I still living in 2022 with that?If there is a sprint sweep, I'd say 200 m is more likely.

I think it’s only theoretically possible in a handful of sports
Archery - maybe the Korean women?
Equestrian - very unlikely
Golf - American men/women. Korean women?
Athletics the one with most chances? Ethiopia did it in women’s 10,000m last year at world champs.Besides those, Cycling, Fencing, Tennis, Triathlon, Skateboarding and Surfing. In surfing - US women could sweep.

1. W C-1 200m
2. W Omnium
3. W 3 x 3
4. W Ind. Foil
5. W Discus
To see if these women can repeat. Really though, I'm looking forward to every event.

I see no one from US has responded to this. I've tried to come up with a list of most significant/infamous US moments across Olympic history, not my 5 moments.
1. Jesse Owens 4 gold medals in 1936.
2. 1980 US Ice Hockey team (although I personally believe the 1960 ice hockey team was a greater sports accomplishment).
3. 1972 US Basketball team.
4. 1994 Womens figures skating.
5. Frank Shorter 1972 Marathon (because it really triggered the running revolution in the US).

I was happy with the Women's 10 K outcome. Weini Kelati, an Eritrean refugee, and the only American with the standard, wins the race and will be going to Paris.
