    The 4 x 100 is the first day. Not the best look to skip a relay on the first day due to an artificial quota particularly as the two solo finals that day won’t have any British entrants in the event nor one of the two evening semis.

    Can they fit enough for all the relays within 30? I can see one of the women medley relay getting the boot if they need to cut one or two people.

    The IOC loves control and the governing bodies love control. Athletics is clearly heading towards an entirely world ranking based system and swimming will follow.

    Wiki says the limit was actually 35 for Tokyo. The squad was 30 in Tokyo and they skipped one relay when they still seem to be aiming to accept all the relays this time around. ,

    I suspect come Brisbane in 2023 that policy is gone - it’s clear the direction of travel is for NOC’s and domestic governing bodies to lose selection power and things to be uniform across the world.

    I wonder if this leading to a Manchester Bid for the Olympics for 2040 or 2044.

    Even if no medals are won surely it can’t be worse than Atlanta with two boxers who both lost their first fights.

    In fact I could see the Home Office being slow on purpose to avoid being accused of rushing it through.

    I will be surprised if many of these are successful. There is not the money. Birmingham European Athletics 2026 still could be cancelled for example.

    Going to be either a big success or a big shambles.

    Probably removed entirely. Even the successful sports are preparing for cuts particularly if the narrative of the entire games is a big decrease in medals. There needs to be golds in the primetime sports of swimming and Athletics and I’m not sure either will produce a gold.

    I do wonder if she will she retire unless she is aiming for LA. British cycling have never cared that much about anything but the Olympics.

    Surprisingly little chat this morning. Suspect they will be more chat tonight but with no big name Brit tonight they won’t be quite as much as usual.

    Also holding it in September limits what stadiums can be used. Anything that has a regular football club there like the London Stadium can no longer apply.

    Taking a big risk giving it to China a by 2027 America will likely be in total boycott China mode (I fully expect China to be denied entry to LA 2028 with the IOC having to decide between allowing it or cancelling the games).

    Guy Leamouth has given an interview about his non selection and Neil Gourley is now on social media supporting him and defending him. And also saying the Aussie committee are unfairly keeping out Jack Anstey as well.
