    Lightweight rowing axe has been known for years and years. I mean it’s different when an event is cut but most or all who would have been in it can easily still compete elsewhere vs if that event goes it would be very difficult for them to move that quick to a different event. How many events have been axed after London/Rio/Tokyo and not announced until after those games - particularly those which would end those competitors chance.

    It will depend on if his hardline anti Russia and somewhat sceptical of China stance appeals to a lot of the voters or not. I’m not sure how much African support he will get due to his viewpoint on the DSD issue.

    Surely it be cruel to axe events for LA after now in stuff where people can’t really train for another event that quick.

    They should allow it but tell them no more quotas.

    I can see swimming being cut to just the freestyle events but not till 2036. The two swimming superpowers won’t back a cut.

    Is there any sport that actually did get that? Rugby women and hockey at a push. Every other sport either medalled or were miles off.

    I wonder what the odds the IOC pull a Fanny Smith/Daniela Maier.

    Fencing seems more important than the other rounds in this. Further Changes maybe needed as without the horses there is no longer that jeopardy either.

    I don’t get the Whitehouse thing. If they wanted to rig it why was he put so low. They could have put him second or third and nobody would have found it that odd.

    It will be a bit of revamp for Track Cycling. Obviously they will say Archibald getting injured pre games and Hayter during it had effects and it did and all four teams got medals and the amount of medals is higher than Tokyo but the gold loss is a problem. Plus the tactics in the Maddison were weird - the women still medalled but their plan to win only on sprints looked risky and naive. I don’t know what the men were even trying today.

    Denise Lewis just quit the BBC to take up UK Athletics full time.

    I feel for every non relay runner whose funding is going to be axed soon. What’s the point of funding field athletes. Gaby Logan and Denise Lewis are talking about that.

    Particularly as just Before Chris Hoy predicted they might win gold. Simon Brotheton and Clare Balding both sounded very disappointed with the performance pre crash.

    8th would be three down on the UK Sport target… Would generate a lot of criticsim.

    Or scrap the odd limit that means we can only have four entries.

    Excellent bronze for Noah Williams. Come on Emma, Sophie, Emily, Jack, Neah and Kate to get a medal tomorrow and then we have a medal every day.

    It all sounds bad. The track team haivng a bit of a mess of a games.

    Diving is the next boxing. The scoring is getting worse and worse and the judges are very biased towards the Chinese.
