  6. Very nice of Russia to disqualify their athlete so that the USA wins gold. Just when I was thinking they didn't really get along together very well

  8. Rishi Sunak will become Britain's latest Prime Minister tomorrow. Who it'll be the day after that, I can't say...
  9. For my part, I don't expect cricket to ever be a permanent part of the Olympic schedule but when certain countries host the Games (Australia, India and possibly the UK or South Africa) and have suitable cricket stadiums that can be used there are financial and other reasons why it could be included. The quota argument is a good argument against cricket but actually a better one against baseball and softball where the squad sizes are so much bigger. I think 2 cricket tournaments of 8 teams would take up around 240 quota, about the same as baseball/softball in 2021. You could even cut it down to 2 6 team tournaments with 14 players on each roster (168 quota)
  10. No. I don't think so. So many Olympic cricket golds would be iconic here but Australia and especially India and Pakistan would be much bigger.
  11. Waldemar Fibigr, the Czech sprint canoeist from 1988 and 1992 Olympics, died on Friday. Really interested to see what @bestmen's opinion is on that...
  12. In my opinion Cricket is only an Olympic sport if the Games are held in India or Australia. And nowhere else.
  13. Yes, sorry, I should have remembered about basketball. My apologies
  14. beat 32-14 Wish there was a better flag available for an all-Ireland team... Lebanon just need to beat to reach the last 8
  15. That's why boxing and weightlifting should be worried
  16. Athletics - Men's Long Jump I can't go against a man who won it 4 times in a row although I can't say I like his personality, but Carl Lewis gets my vote. Beamon's performance was fantastic but the doubt over the wind reading for his jump has to be noted. Swimming - Men's 200m Individual Medley Phelps, 4 wins. Nothing more to be said Table Tennis - Women's Singles Always vote for China in table tennis. Badminton - Women's Doubles I go for the 2 time champions... Badminton - Mixed Doubles Tempted to go for the 1972 demonstration champions from but since they were not an option, the 2016 gold medalists were totally dominant.
  17. I think a 6-8 team tournament might creep under the quota. And I don't think it hurts that India pays a lot less for rights to show the Olympics than other countries of the same stature. Olympic cricket = $$$$
