  1. So tonight's race was streaming fine on YouTube until the two British sliders right at the end where the stream cut out a message came up "This stream has been suspended for policy violations" then came back on after the race was over. Was this a UK thing or did it happen everywhere?
  2. It's not Kristof Milak because he's currently competing
  3. Or imagine CR7 staying on the substitutes bench as his teammates score 2 goals to win the game...
  4. Walter Winterbottom, the coach of the England team at the 1962 World Cup, said an African team would win the World Cup by the year 2000. Maybe he's only 22 years late?
  5. Also I'm scared that England will win the World Cup now and the rest of Great Britain will have to listen to another 40, 50, 60 years of them reminding us of it.
  6. I'm afraid this is very poor behaviour from Argentina...
  7. Lock him in a room with Miroslav Satan and see who comes out of it first
  8. So, are we taking bets on which player gets sent off first in extra time?
  9. Great result for Neymar. Now he has more time to fix his tax returns....
  10. The Albanian Athletics federation is under investigation for faking results so that long jumper Izmir Smajlaj could qualify for the Tokyo Games
  11. The SJA (Sports Journalists Association) awards for 2022 have been given out. The second most important awards in the UK after the BBC Sports Personality Awards. results are: Women 1 Beth Mead (football) 2 Eilish McColgan (athletics) 3 Laura Muir (athletics) Men 1 Jake Wightman (athletics) 2 Ben Stokes (cricket) 3 Jonny Bairstow (cricket) Team 1 England women's football 2 England men's cricket 3 GB women's curling Paralympic awards Men - Alfie Hewitt (tennis) Women - Maisie Summers-Newton (swimming) Team - England wheelchair rugby league Special award - Kevin Sinfield (rugby league) for raising 2 and a half million pounds for charity for running an ultra-marathon a day for a week
  12. Basketball, men's Tournament. Since there's no option to vote for the team that won a demonstration event between European YMCA teams in 1924 I think I might have for vote for Basketball, women's Tournament for Gold. Oh say can you see, by the dawn's early light... Basketball, women's Tournament for Bronze. Tempted for vote for the USA again. But this time Handball, men's Tournament. Vive la Waterpolo, men's tournament. 1956
  13. Equestrian, team Dressage Germany's 400 successive gold medals win this contest Equestrian, team Eventing. Australia had a great run at the end of the last century but they in 96 and 2000 they put their best combinations in the team competition when it was held separately from the individual when other countries split the effort over both events. Again I may be biased but in 1968 had three of the top five finishers in terrible conditions (one of the Irish riders had to be saved from drowning) so they get my vote Equestrian, team Jumping. Here it's between 2021 Sweden and of the 96 and 2000 Games. Here the brilliance of the Atlanta Games from Germany wins my vote Fencing, men's team Epee. Vive la Athletics, men's 4x100m Relay. I also loved 2004 and the American lead runner (Crawford?) trying to look like a gangsta at the start and then looking silly when they lost. I changed my a lot about this, swapping between and but eventually decided that the 1984 US team tipped the balance in favour of America
  14. Sportsperson of the year is world athletics 1500m champion Jake Wightman
  15. I was thinking it might be a good idea sometime to predict the results for every year a full strength Olympics should have taken place but was cancelled or boycotted by some nations. Although I realize that would take a lot of research to complete.
  16. If you haven't heard the story yet. Crazy Nazis get arrested after plotting to overthrow the German government https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63885028
  17. For some strange reason, doesn't give any awards until March 2023. Maybe time runs more slowly on the island?
  18. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald's_1984_Olympics_promotion
  19. I think 4 of the Americans deserved golds in 1984 and 5 didn't. being the country that lost out badly because of the home town judging. I think the and fighters would have been so good that the judges could not possibly vote against them. (I hope)
  20. In Equestrian might have got a silver or bronze in team dressage but otherwise they'd be no changes to the medals
