  1. 4 Alpine Skiing: 2 Speed Skating: 1 Luge: 1
  2. It's time to make final guess and elaborate . Short Track Speed Skating: Men's 500m/1500m and Mixed relay with decent chance to win medals even gold medals. Women's and Men's relay are always with chance given the messy situation. To be realistic and consider the unpredictability of the discipline, 2 golds and 6 medals. Speed Skating: Men's 500m and 1500m are among gold medal contenders but with plenty rivals from US, Canada and always Netherland, also Men's 1000m also with slim chance of medal. As host, I decide to be a little optimistic, 1 gold and 2 medals. Figure Skating: Though Russian show great competence on ECH, Chinese pairs can win the gold if skate cleanly for both short and free programs. Also China also have slim chance on team event to win a bronze medal. Once again I'm optimistic as host, 1 gold and 1 medal. Freestyle Skiing: Aerials are quite unpredictable, Mixed team with greatest chance to win gold medal, Women's and Men's event are almost guaranteed with medals but the color is hard to predict. Super star Gu Ailing almost secures the Halfpipe gold, and also with 50% to win Big Air and 20% to win Slopestyle. In total I would guess, 3 golds and 6 medals. Snowboarding: Su Yiming proved his ability on Big Air already. And I see great potential on his Slopestyle, hopefully he succeed Backside 1980 on OG. And Cai Xuetong has capability to win a medal even though she can't compete Chloe Kim. 1 Gold and 2 medals. Skeleton/Bobsleigh/Curling: Hopefully at least one of these sports can make some surprise. 1 medal. My guess: 8 golds and 18 medals Pessimistic guess: 6 golds and 15 medals Optimistic guess: 10 golds and 20 medals
  3. most famous player Lee Zii Jia quits from national team and being a professional player. His move angers Malaysian badminton federation and it declared it will not help Lee register any BWF events for two years as long as it requires registration by national federation. But its decision is allow to appeal so I guess these two parts are still bargaining.
  4. Beijing WOG opening ceremony director Zhang Yimou said during an interview yesterday he hopes the ceremony will be less than 100 minutes, minimalist but classic.
  5. finished trials yesterday and just announced the list. Some athlete didn't attend any WC stages and selected just not to decline any quota. Men: Gao Tingyu, Ning Zhongyan, Lian Ziwen, Wang Haotian, Yang Tao, Xu Fu Women: Han Mei, Jin Jingzhu, Li Qishi, Yin Qi, Tian Ruining, Ahenaer ADAKE, Guo Dan, Pei Chong
  6. Well the"unless" happened. Czech declined a women SBX quota when everybody is already offline.
  7. FIS quotas confirmation and reallocation process is supposedly finished unless some NOC re-decline the quotas at last minute!
  8. you are right about this. But I didn't count that precise at this stage since China doesn't release the list yet (but we all know she will be selected for all these events). To be more accurate, it could be 169, one female curling athlete may attend both women's team and mixed team. Anyway I will update when it's confirmed.
  9. CHINA: 171 Cross-Country Skiing: 9 Alpine Skiing: 4 Ski Jumping: 3 Nordic Combined: 1 Freestyle Skiing: 21 Snowboarding: 13 Biathlon: 8 Ice Hockey: 48 Curling: 12 Bobsleigh: 12 Skeleton: 4 Luge: 4 Figure Skating: 8 Short Track Speed Skating: 10 Speed Skating: 14
  10. I am not worried about at all. If with no enough volunteer spectators, government will organize some professional cheerleader teams.
  11. It's a good idea but I don't think authority have guts to allow the kids to be spectators. Even schools have interest but most kids' parents will refuse. I guess you must know what general Chinese parents feel about the Olympic venues full of people. On the other hand, I didn't totally give up any chance. I ask my friends working in government to ask if it's allowed bring their friends to the Olympics as so many invitees prefer to refuse the invitation.
  12. it didn’t write clearly. Actually China get one IBU ranking quota by itself and then get one original host quota(1). In this scenario the total quotas is 105. Since China is not in top20 so IBU gave China two more additional quotas without affecting other NOCs. That’s the 1+2 and total 107 quotas.
  13. https://www.biathlonworld.com/news/2022-olympic-games-qualifying/4Mg7ZORJkfP5zKX82xGBIp IBU stated if China ended in top20, it's 105 total quotas. If China is out of top20, it's 107 total quotas to help China reach 4 quotas per gender and attend the relay. I also just surprisingly know it and searching the IBU document and news. It writes clearly in news but I don't find the lines in qualification document.
  14. Official quota allocation list: 2-man:https://www.ibsf.org/images/news/Images/2021-2022_Winter_Season/10_Olympic_Winter_Games_Beijing_2022/Quota_Beijing_2022/OWG_Beijing_2022_2-man_Bobsleigh.pdf 4-man:https://www.ibsf.org/images/news/Images/2021-2022_Winter_Season/10_Olympic_Winter_Games_Beijing_2022/Quota_Beijing_2022/OWG_Beijing_2022_4-man_Bobsleigh.pdf 2-woman and women's monobob:https://www.ibsf.org/images/news/Images/2021-2022_Winter_Season/10_Olympic_Winter_Games_Beijing_2022/Quota_Beijing_2022/OWG_Beijing_2022_2-woman_and_Womens_Monobob.pdf
  15. IBSF released the official quota allocation list: Men's Skeleton: https://www.ibsf.org/images/news/Images/2021-2022_Winter_Season/10_Olympic_Winter_Games_Beijing_2022/Quota_Beijing_2022/OWG_Beijing_2022_Mens_Skeleton.pdf Women's Skeleton: https://www.ibsf.org/images/news/Images/2021-2022_Winter_Season/10_Olympic_Winter_Games_Beijing_2022/Quota_Beijing_2022/OWG_Beijing_2022_Womens_Skeleton.pdf
  16. With the first case of Omicron variant reported in Beijing, it's the most appropriate timing to finally announce that Olympic tickets only for invited personnels, mainly government and state-owned enterprise staff, and not for public. It's also reported that some Beijing staff got invitation but with low interest to accept and also committee promised that every match will be with spectators if it's designed so.
  17. Not much. No ordinary Chinese fans care about Men's Ice Hockey team's status and almost no medias following them. What I only know is that the captain is Brandon Yip and he said the matches are to inspire next generation and to attract more youngsters involved into this sport.
  18. finished the trials and publish the team list today without surprise person. Men: Jin Boyang Women: Zhu Yi (Beverly Zhu) Pairs: Sui Wenjing/Han Cong, Peng Cheng/Jin Yang Ice Dance: Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu
  19. China just finished trials today and released the team list. Men: Wu Dajing, Ren Ziwei, Sun Long, Li Wenlong, Zhang Tianyi Women: Fan Kexin, Qu Chunyu, Han Yutong, Zhang Yuting, Zhang Chutong A little controversy goes to An Kai not selected. He won most champions on the trials but his finishing time doesn’t meet the standards.
  20. IBSF released the final women's skeleton IBSF ranking. It includes 8 stages while Olympic standing should consist maximum of 7 stages as its document writes clearly. So I wonder if it will update the Olympic standing or it will just use IBSF ranking and then get complained.
  21. I didn't make the reservation to buy the olympic notes. I think it almost sold out and begin the speculation now.
