  1. Two wins has Megan Fletcher into the quarter finals of the world championship and she's guaranteed to be in a qualifying spot now. Mark one down for Judo!
  2. I don’t think so (based solely on a pic that Natalya put up on insta) Sive Brassil is there though
  3. Now predicting 5 for Ireland Gold for O’Donovan/McCarthy in lightweight double sculls in rowing medals for Puspure in rowing, McClenaghan in gymnastics and Harrington in boxing Then 1 from good chances in rowing, boxing or equestrian Outside chances in hockey (if they 0-0 their way to a medal again), taekwondo, athletics (Barr), golf, cycling
  4. Big day in Judo tomorrow. Hopefully Megan Fletcher gets a win. Her second fight is scheduled to be against the number 2 seed
  5. All qualifying is officially finished so I expect them to confirm the final allocations soon
  6. That’s exactly what happened. The North Korea gymnast has been crossed for months with Megan in instead
  7. And the good part is that if Megan is injured, Emma Slevin is next in line!
  8. I miscounted! He was 7th and 6 made it from the rankings. I thought he was 6th and 5 made it! Apologies!
  9. I thought so too but others in the athletics thread say 4
  10. Barr won't run the 4x400m relay as it clashes with the 400m hurdles so you can add one to the Athletics team. If Healy qualifies individually then it will be Healy + 3 but as of now, it's 4 Officially Dickson & Waddilove haven't been chosen yet in sailing. Either have the rowers apart from O'Donovan and McCarthy but that's just paperwork at this stage it seems! And a small one but Wooley was 6th in the Olympic rankings. I think we'll break 100 BTW...
  11. With her win today, Kellie Harrington becomes number one seed at 60kg. Oj Jeon yi from is 2nd seed. The world champion Beatriz Ferreira from will be number 3 seed because there was no Americas' qualifier
  12. For Carolyn Hayes was in the ‘new flags’ positions until this weekend but she’s moved up in the rankings as is no longer travelling to Mexico Russell White is in the last qualifying spot so he’s travelling. It really does seem like the top 45 are all safe
  13. There might also be funding issues The GB team finishing top 6 might be worth to the federation than apparatus medals No information here, but it may be a reason
  14. Rankings are closed at the end of this tournament they’ll be announced shortly after
  15. Considering they’ve lost Joe Ward in 2019 and Michael Nevin this month(!), it’s an unreal performance
  16. Ha. Was in the middle of posting this. Yes, this is a new qualifying time for Michelle
  17. Michelle Finn - 3,000m steeplechase 9:29:25. Paavo Nurmi Games
  18. I agree wholeheartedly. Derek has been a great servant to Irish sport and enjoyed some success and a few Olympic trips I’d like to see Aoife be rewarded for her recent improvements
  19. Ireland statement. FINA contacted them a day later to rescind the invitation that they had already accepted. They’re challenging it...
  20. Thanks for this info. In the case of, say, Ireland would it be up to the federation to choose? So they could decide to choose women’s trap and not men’s trap?
  21. No. They changed that rule. I’m not sure of the exact new rule but it was mentioned in commentary at the Irish trials that Darragh Greene getting the A time at the 200m and 100m breaststroke was important as he wasn’t guaranteed to be allowed in both with only a B time
  22. I actually meant the first fight! Apologies
  23. Young boxers just bypass the ‘golden gloves’ circuit now to go pro at 18/19.
  24. Boxing does seem to have more losers complain of corruption than any other sport. With some fights it’s genuinely impossible for ‘normal’ viewers to separate the two The only Irish fighter I think was CLEARLY robbed was Michael Conlon against the Russian in Rio. Others have claimed to have been robbed but I wouldn’t agree the only British fighter I think who was given a fight they shouldn’t have was Joshua in London. He’s proven himself since but he lost that final in my opinion
