  1. You don’t understand. So I’d worry about other things if I was you.
  2. You keep asking about this and to be honest, I’m not sure you will ever understand it. I’m not sure how much simpler I can break it down for you Athletes from Northern Ireland have a right to citizenship of both GB and Ireland. They can compete for either in the Olympics.
  3. The game that the Netherlands won 2-0 without really trying? Yeah I watched that one... The Dutch are by some distance the best team around. They lost in a shootout in Rio, so shocks can happen but anything other than gold for them is a shock
  4. Apart from those you've mentioned, Kurt Walker in boxing, the Mens Double in rowing, the golfers and both sailing crews (We know Annalise Murphy turns up at the Olympics) are all potential medalist. Outside chances include Jack Wooley in Taekwondo, the Fletchers in Judo, rugby and hockey teams (0-0ing their way to another final), Natalya Coyle in MP and even the track cycling boys are all outside bets. It is genuinely the first time Ireland have had so many contendors Obviously the vast majority won't medal but I do think that with average luck (ie no illness, injuries, falls or dodgy decisions), The Lightweight doubles, Puspure, Harrington and McClenaghan should medal.
  5. Awful situation with the Polish relay teams but a similar thing happened with Ireland They apparently didn’t understand the limit on relay only spots. Brendan Hyland is a butterfly swimmer and got a OST time invitation so he’s part of the 800 free relay along with backstroke (and now butterfly?!) Shane Ryan who hasn’t swam 200 free since he was 16 Would have been pretty embarrassing after the 400 medley relay debacle
  6. I think Pog wanted to gift that to Vingegaard for yesterday but Mas sprinting 300m out made him chase Good to see some form from Dan Martin. Good sign for Tokyo
  7. For Ireland I think only the top one should be safe but ranking them I’d go 1) O’Donovan/McCarthy - Lightweight double sculls - rowing 2) Sanita Puspure - single sculls - rowing 3) Kellie Harrington - 60kg - boxing
  8. Another one gone… https://twitter.com/stu_fraser/status/1415383005095415815?s=21
  9. Some of the Irish team posted pics too earlier. Finland above them. Sweden below
  10. The selection the sell on their website is pretty poor. Some of the non-adidas stuff is down right awful too
  11. Stephen Scullion is back in. Called his decision ‘rash’
  12. Ben and Megan both announced now
  13. Only the second Austrian stage winner since 1931. Pretty incredible stat giving how well their neighbours all perform in cycling.
  14. The "template" article is back with both their names. Maybe they're working on the text https://olympics.ie/team-ireland-judo-team-named/
  15. You deserve a medal for all your work compiling these lists!
  16. Here's the full list for Badminton - Nhat Nguyen Swimming - Mona McSharry Diving - Tanya Watson
  17. They had the web page up yesterday with just the 2 names. No other text. That was removed it would lead you think that Ben isn’t fit
  18. No, but the athletes may be punished. In reality, a local baker in Ireland or the Netherlands or wherever posting it won’t even be noticed. They’re more worried about adidas or nike and the major global marketers
  19. I’m not sure what you’re asking but I suspect you’re asking about the make of the British and Irish rugby and hockey teams? People from Northern Ireland are included in the hockey squads for both Ireland and GB There are no people from Northern Ireland in either rugby squad, but Max McFarland of GB is an Irish citizen and qualified for Scotland through his grandfather. Also, none of this matters.
  20. It’s a development competition. There’s always lots of stars missing As for ‘what’s the point?’ The point is competition. Why have regional events? Why have national events? Why have under 18 or under 20? Why have european? Why go to the Olympics if you’re not going to medal Duplantis has bigger goals than this but some athletes don’t. For others it’s a stepping stone. It doesn’t matter who’s not there. The athletes have their own goals and congrats if they achieve them
  21. Congratulations to all Italian members. I’m so happy for you
  22. Why so aggressive? Jesus…
  23. They’ve had what everyone considers a disaster of a tour. Particularly in those first few days And they could end up with 2/3 stages, a podium and the polka dot jersey. Ha ha
  24. Ireland won 2 medals, not 1
  25. Congratulations to all members here from Argentina. I’m so happy for Messi
