  1. Perhaps most of those Norwegians are too proud, or they have no plans of leaving their country? In Lithuania, we only pick up those athletes that have familial ties with Lithuania, which is the case with Paulauskaitė, Žurauskaitė, Čigak and Kresik. Which means that it's highly unlikely anyone that's not from Eastern Europe is going to end up in the Lithuanian team, We're going to send a weak figure skating pair to the Olympics, because we denied nationality twice to an American woman.
  2. Imagine being Dale, 5th in the world last year, relegated to the IBU cup without a chance to qualify into the Olympics. Fell off + ratio
  3. Didn't even know where to post this, but Rūta Meilutytė jumped back into the pool after a three year hiatus yesterday. Today she won the 50m breaststroke in the Lithuanian Championships with a time of 29.33 and that is 0.1s faster than the World Champion here Rūta still doesn't know if she wants to compete and commit to being an athlete again, but she is darn capable to come back still if she'd like to.
  4. Yay for the silver medal from Danas Rapšys, we're not leaving empty handed
  5. I think it should be pretty big news in terms of swimming, but Lithuania's very own Rūta Meilutytė made an official comeback in the Lithuanian short-course swimming championships. She already won gold in women's 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:05.23 and that is already faster than she swam in 2018 when she quit.
  6. First world cup points for Poland and they come from the men
  7. This one aged well Vytautas Strolia is going to finish in the highest position of Lithuanian male biathlon ever. It's going to be 11th place and this time it's a freakin' +0.1 off of a historical top 10 performance Well, I'll take what I can get. With the way it's going, he has a good chance to become the third Lithuanian ever to qualify to a mass start, but the first one ever to qualify with top25 world cup points and not the +5 additional spots like Diana Rasimovičiūtė, or in Olympics/World Championships like Tomas Kaukėnas. EDIT: Scratch that crap, Nawrath came out of nowhere :DDDD Anyways, it's a historical 12th place, which is still the highest position in Lithuanian male biathlon ever.
  8. Dale is really not having a good year :S
  9. So Viktorija Andrulytė won bronze at the Laser Radial Championships in Oman. She beat Anne-Marie Rindom and other famous names in sailing. I honestly have no clue if I should get hyped or not, since I don't know what level of legit this competition actually was 1. Emma Plasschaert 2. Agata Barwinska 3. Viktorija Andrulytė
  10. Strolia is slowly becoming the biathlete that I always wanted to have as a fan. Managed to get into points in all 4 races and three different disciplines. Is at the moment 21st overall biathlete, I know it's early days, but really no Lithuanian has ever been up there. Would be awesome if he somehow gave Lithuania the very first male top 10. Best ever result was 8th place by Diana Rasimovičiūtė in 2011/12 Oberhof Sprint. Strolia already had two opportunities to be in top 10 this year if he missed 1 less.
  11. This 14th place is so weird when everybody apart from Kaukėnas performed far below their standards. Like, for us to finish 14th, we needed to do something good. Now it just feels as if other teams around us just looked even worse than our bad day. This could've been a very good opportunity for a historical top 10, but the first two legs from our leaders were awful.
  12. She was saving herself for the relay.
  13. Gabrielė Leščinskaitė probably lost her title of the most accurate biathlete right now with that 2+0+0+0 It was funny while it lasted.
  14. I think last season started with Swedish domination and when they fell off, Norway and France took over.
  15. Pretty decent day for Lithuania. Vytautas Strolia finished 17th with a superb ski time and his second best result ever. Gabrielė Leščinskaitė hit all ten targets and landed her second best result as well. Lastly, Linas Banys also hit all ten targets and got his best ever result at 61st. It's nice to see that Vytautas managed to get points in all three races so far, here's to hoping he doesn't burn out before the Olympics.
  16. Vytautas Strolia posted a 19th course time, we haven't seen Lithuanians this fast since Diana Rasimovičiūtė. Sadly, very sadly, he missed two targets on a day where everybody was shooting really well. But, he still scored points in both Ostersund races as of now, hopefully he doesn't burn out like last year, when he had a very good first half of the season.
  17. If they have two Andersen sisters as well, I would be the first to welcome them to the Lithuanian team. We need all the help we can get. Men's team seems to be under control and having the form of their lives
  18. We strived for years and years to have a hit rate that's better than 60%. And now that we have a 100% hit rate for Leščinskaitė and 90% for Kočergina, we have completely abandoned our skiing
  19. Makes you wonder how Hildebrand and Hammerschmidt would compare to them right now. Tbh, I even forgot Hinz existed for a moment
  20. Nevermind, she is going to be racing in UCI Champions League and she will retire after the league is finished.
  21. Wow, nice effort from Strolia. Really had a chance for a historic podium here if he shot 20/20. If he doesn't lose too much places in the final lap, this is going to be a PB for him.
  22. Fomin is having a senior race of his life right now in the IBU cup
  23. Gabrielė Leščinskaitė giving a lot of hopes with her pre-season racing, having a tendency to get faster and faster as the race goes on, gives me false hope that we're winning World Cup points today. Because that 4th and 5th lap was absolutely abyssmal and made a possible good performance absolutely average, and not helping much for her Olympic qualification.
  24. I think it's picking up on the final trimester of 2019-20 season, including the IBU European Championships. It's probably picking up the World Champs from that season as well, only way I can explain Kočergina having such a good position.
