Natalija Kočergina and Gabrielė Leščinskaitė starting in the IBU cup tomorrow, to better their chances of qualifying into the Olympics. The men's team pretty much what was expected, but Fomin isn't in it.

Funnily enough, I knew the Canadian song from a Canadian reality tv show parody cartoon I have a special place in my heart for this show.

Lithuania Simona Krupeckaitė has announced that she will retire in UCI Champions League event on November 27th in Panevėžys, Lithuania. Simona is a five time Olympian (shared record with Virgilijus Alekna and Daina Gudzinevičiūtė), 2 time World Champion, 3 time European Champion, she still holds two World Records and she has countless silver and bronze medals from all major championships, yet only the olympic medal has eluded her. She is very well known in the cycling-track world and Lithuania probably will never have a cyclist that accomplished as Krupeckaitė was. Sad to see her go, but as people say, don't be sad that it's over, be happy that it happened and she has awarded so many wonderful sport memories from my childhood to adulthood. Will always be one of the greats.

It's absolutely crazy to think that we've been doing this for 9 years already. @OlympicIRL did you believe that you would build such a huge legacy for a music contest on a sports forum nonetheless?

Another good example is Justin Bieber hitting #1 on Billboard with "Yummy" when nobody liked that awful song.

I really shouldn't need to explain this. More famous doesn't equal better, yes, they may be more critically acclaimed, but that does not mean that their music is better only because they have more views on Youtube. Also, in the modern age of this industry, we tend to imagine that we as people are responsible for who gets famous, but there are so many games behind the scenes that nobody becomes famous without a reason, especially when we're talking mainstream fame. And no, I'm not only talking about the games that labels play - buying spots on the radio, having a different platform where they can pitch music to Spotify, millions upon millions of dollars in marketing, venue placement and all that good shit, I'm also talking about Spotify and Youtube algorhythms that work for people who are already ahead, not for emerging artists, and especially not for artists that are not coming from a country that's a major player in the music soundscape. Basically, more and more nowadays you're listening to what's put in front of you, and rarely do you look for ways to seek out music on your own, this was made apparent by Spotify and how people consume music through playlists and are not even listening to full albums most of the time. Artists like Avicii don't come out of nowhere, artists nowadays are massively produced and the labels paint a pretty picture to make you think they're hot and up and coming, but everything is planned out years in advance. You could see that by looking at credits and seeing what songwriters wrote songs for who and then went on to become famous artists themselves after years of grind in the industry making connections, oooor another good example would be a huge super star Taylor Swift having a huge tour and who is warming up the stage for her? Shawn Mendes, Troye Sivan, Fifth Harmony that were put there by their labels and are now all huge artists. Lenny never had the chance to become more famous than Avicii, does that mean that she should automatically lose to him? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Bruh, Sweden has won before. It would be unfair if Sweden won just for sending Avicii. This is not a name recognision contest, it's a song contest. Third place is huge, learn to be happy for others and by saying this you're also disregarding everyone that voted for your song and there were many many gold medals as well.

All in all, an 11th place for a humble Lithuanian rock song is very much appreciated and a pretty solid result. If we take out the English songs out of the equation, it was one of the best non-English songs this year and I can only be proud that the language from my small country can still be recognised and is appreciated from countries in all continents. Thanks again for everyone that voted for Lithuania, looking forward to the next contest and you might see someone familiar coming back

Oh wow, so my favourite entry that got 12 points from Lithuania actually won TISC? That rarely happens Huge congratulations to @Hipooo would be lovely to see you host, especially since we're in times where the winning nations rarely rise to the occasion.

The middle of the table is insane as well. One 12 points can get you up like 10 places or more.

Throughout the show, it really felt like Lithuania either got 7-11 points or none at all, I guess this is what I get for sending light rock vibes

I don't think that the final three juries are what it takes for Lithuania to get back into top 10, but I'm glad that we were in it for a small part of this show

if I remember correctly, he wrote in this thread that it was Slovakia? I think everybody was meme'ing, because the flags are fairly similar.

Not really, Kočergina is at the end of her career, not really sure how much longer will she last. Marija Kresik was comfortably the third best Lithuanian last year, but for some reason she didn't start anywhere and I don't have any info behind that. Lidija Žurauskaitė will be getting her passport any day now and then she'll be able to represent Lithuania. I forgot to mention, but it's likely that Sara Urumova will start in the IBU cup too, but she doesn't really have any prospects. Then there's also Kapancova that's looking a bit better this season, but also miles away from actually doing damage in a race.
