  1. Karol Dombrovski murdered Lithuania with that awful horrendous performance on the skis. We haven't had an athlete in a relay this slow in I don't know how many years. Really had a chance for a top 10 here, but that ski speed, he was not moving at all.
  2. You know that Lithuanian race walking is fucked when there are 5 teams in the Women's Team Championships, no Russia, Portugal, Italy or Spain, but we're still not medaling. Why did Živilė Vaiciukevičiūtė have to retire so early
  3. Donata was fully ready to continue for an another Olympic cycle, especially since it was only three years this time. Milda announced her retirement right there on the stage, Donata didn't even know that was going to happen. Really lost a lot of respect for Milda, I believe Donata is going to try her luck in the single-sculls and after that probably retirement in 2024.
  4. The French team weren't the best of friends? Just another lie fed by the Eurosport commentators that always said that no one can beat the team spirit in the French team
  5. Damn, with so many talented Italian youngsters coming through, he might miss the golden age of Italian biathlon. Or perhaps he's just running away from coaching his kids?
  6. Nah, he just needs that extra space for his ego.
  7. 46 bib in tomorrow's women's sprint is a 36 y.o. from Taipei. Can't really remember the last time we've had representation in biathlon from there.
  8. I planned to go to Otepaa for the Biathlon World Cup, but the world decided that it was not a good idea Didn't think they'd allow spectators due to Covid, so I didn't plan a trip.
  9. There would be a lot more in Lithuania, but they can't travel through Belarus... We're sending vehicles to pick them up from Poland and Lithuania also sent financial aid to Moldova.
  10. I just hope the Russians run out of steam eventually... Today feels like Russia did a lot of emotional and infrastructural damage, I'm highly worried. The first few days were just like 1938 with Czechoslovakia, I honestly thought that Europe would just watch like they did back then. There's not much news though if the weapon and humanitarian aid that all the countries are sending is safely reaching Ukraine. Anybody know anything?
  11. Hey, I'm here for the post-Olympic sauce. It is quite common that there are a lot of retirements after Olympic years, so I was wondering perhaps anybody has heard anything from their teams? Wikipedia says Weger, Puskarčikova and Dunklee as of now. I think Lithuania could have some possible retirements as well after this tough year.
  12. As much as I would probably like to proceed as planned, I didn't even think about checking Totallympics these past few days and if @Vektor hadn't tagged me, I probably would have only remembered this was going on no earlier than March. I support one month postponement even more, since it gives a better chance for @Illya to not miss out on the contest, due to the ongoing circumstances...
  13. Just got back home from Dublin. I don't know if this increases our chances of winning TISC, but Lithuania is in
  14. Well, these Olympics were somewhat a disaster for the Lithuanian team. At least we saved the four year budget plan for next OG with this relay performance
  15. Another question, why does every single country have to play by the qualification rules, whilst China get exemptions in both World Cup and IBU cup quotas just for being China, and even after not qualifying and getting two quotas for free, they still send four men and don't give a fuck about the athletes that worked their ass off, but were not strong enough to get into the top 10 athletes for a quota.
  16. Tbh, I don't care if Strolia gets 20/20 with the way that he's looking on his skis. Lap 3,4 and 5 was horrendous. I don't think that we're going to get many good results here, because it feels that this course is very unfavourable for our team.
  17. This Leščinskaitė is what could have been if she didn't face various health troubles after her debut season 7 years ago. She is finally slowly getting back on track to where she used to be, which in turn is helping her progress and unlock her potential.
  18. Gabrielė Leščinskaitė used this opportunity of a fair few women not starting to get a PB result of a 19th place. This is her second time in World Cup points, the first time was her first senior season 7 years ago... and it's the best Lithuanian women's result since 2013. Right now, she is the most accurate biathlete in the world, her ski speed is getting better. She was trying to qualify to the Olympics and had some very very good races, but she was very unlucky with where the coaching team decided to start her. I have a suspicion that our team might actually send her to the Olympic Games instead of Kočergina, which would be sad for Kočergina, but Gabrielė is definitely the one in a better form. This race was a breath of fresh air, because she's only the second Lithuanian to get world cup points this season. Karol, Tomas and Natalija are having a very bad one as of now.
  19. Funnily enough, early tendencies are showing that I might end up second for a third year in a row
  20. It's weird though, he is not a slouch on the skis, posted top 20 ski times in many many races this season. Laps 2 through 4 he looked great, absolutely nothing left for the last lap.
  21. Honestly, I'm in shock. Being a Lithuanian biathlon fan, I always kept thinking if we're ever going to see anything better than Diana Rasimovičiūtė. Now, nearly eleven years later, Lithuania is back in the top 10 and it is the highest placement for any Lithuanian biathlete since our independence. What is even more amazing is that TODAY, January 13th we are celebrating the 31st year of our independence after fourteen brave civilians were crushed underneath Soviet tanks for peacefully defending our TV Tower. What a day to be alive, I will always be thankful for what Vytautas Strolia did today for biathlon and Lithuania, hopefully, just hopefully he gets to climb onto a podium before he decides to retire. But for today, I'm happy to call him the best biathlete that Lithuania has ever produced in modern biathlon.
  22. I can't believe it that after all these years, we are losing the World Cup podium by 1 second, oh the misery
  23. Are we possibly rewriting Lithuanian biathlon history right now????????????????????
  24. I remember Swedish women banned from entering in Sochi, that was an awful sight. I remember feeling bad for Stroemstedt when she was the leading Swede that season and I think that she retired, because she couldn't go to the OG. Also, right on time with that decision Brorsson became the European pursuit champion, so I felt bad for her too. She beat Roeiseland that day that fell off from 1st place and another very interesting fact was that Padial Hernandez took a double silver for Spain that year and it's crazy to think that she didn't really have any more achievements after that insane 2013/14 season.
