  1. Hong Sevens is currently being held, but there is also a side tournament which will decide which team will become a core team in the next season. The semi-finals will be played tomorrow. Hong Kong vs Germany Zimbabwe vs Japan
  2. Canada qualifiers after Day 4 of the Canadian Olympic Trials Men's 100m Freestyle - Santo Condorelli, Yuri Kisil Men's 4x100m Freestyle Relay - Santo Condorelli, Yuri Kisil, Markus Thormeyer, Evan van Moerkerke Women's 200m Butterfly - Audrey Lacroix Women's 200m IM - Sydney Pickrem, Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson Katerine Savard missed the 200m butterfly
  3. Canada wins a men's quota and United States wins a women's quota after the first day.
  4. He's competed in three different boat classes, a very impressive athlete.
  5. Will continental separation be a factor?
  6. lol the final scoreboard said 8-6 for me. Typical Canada.
  7. At least it wasn't by one goal.
  8. We’ll see, they might let them (and possibly the second place finishers) compete since they are already competing in the relay.
  9. Australian Trials Day 2 Qualifiers Men's 100m Breaststroke - Jake Packard Women's 400m Freestyle - Jessica Ashwood, Tamsin Cook Women's 100m Butterfly - Emma McKeon, Madeline Groves
  10. You see it in other sports too, Pakistan in field hockey, Honduras (and other African nations) in football.
  11. Men's 100m Freestyle JPN Olympic Standard – 48.16 Katsumi Nakamura, 48.25 NR Women's 100m Freestyle JPN Olympic Standard – 53.81 Miki Uchida, 53.88 NR
  12. Japan literally set a new national record in the men's and women's 100m freestyle yet neither swimmer will go to Rio because they didn't reach the Japanese standard.
  13. Good luck to Macedonia, this will be their best chance at qualifying anyone outside of invitations. The match against Tunisia tomorrow will be most important.
  14. Spain will be the favourite over Canada, but Canada will have a chance. This means Canada will lose by 1 goal.
  15. France has a good chance. Maybe Netherlands is the favourite based on the results in this tournament.
  16. No Canada vs. Spain. Italy finished 1st due to goal difference and Netherlands finished second because they defeated Spain
  17. As a reminder the Canadian Trials are also the New Zealand trials for swimmers studying in North America. So far Corey Main in the men's 100m backstroke and Matt Hutchins in the men's 400m freestyle have qualified and will be added to the team.
  18. Thanks, not too surprised about Belgium
  19. I’ve been collecting dates for each nation’s Olympic trials. I’ve gotten all of the large ones, but I am missing a few mid-sized nations. Belgium Greece Hungary Sweden It’s possible that they don’t have trials and just used times, but I would like to know for sure. Most of the smaller swimming nations won’t have trials, but if yours does don’t hesitate to post the dates.
  20. In other nations Australia added six athletes to its swimming team after day 1 of their trials Men's 400m Freestyle - Mack Horton, David McKeon Men's 400m IM - Thomas Fraser-Holmes, Travis Mahoney Women's 400m IM - Blair Evans, Keryn McMaster
  21. Mostly yes. The main exception is with injury/illness (I don't think anyone important is sick/injured), 2015 world champ medalists which failed here (only Ryan Cochrane in 400m and 1500m free remains) and technically relay athletes won't be qualified until after they qualified the relay (though I think they will be listed with the initial team).
  22. Good to see the men finally on the qualifying side.
  23. Looks like Canada/France will likely decide 2nd and 3rd in Group A.
  24. Each header is as follows (rough translation) - Individual selection which reached the French Standard - Relay selection which satisfy the selection standard - Top selected athletes which were closest to the French standard - Additional relay athletes which satisfied the French standard - Relay athletes in order to fill relays qualified by France
  25. What's the point of threads if nobody posts in them? If we should go to SwimSwam then what's the point of this site? If we were bombarding the thread with blow by blow results that's one thing, but I don't see us being disruptive. On the other side I have no issue seeing the results of other nations.
