Qualification Tracker

Test

Everything posted by JoshMartini007

  1. How about a points or elimination race like in cycling?
  2. Yeah, sadly qualification through the World Surf League is more of an intra-nation competition than an inter-nation competition
  3. There's only one quota in mountain biking, but there is a (very outside) chance for Bolivia.
  4. Priority for men: Priority for women: On paper Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the United States should qualify through the world rankings for both genders. Mexico and Colombia have an outside chance.
  5. While Canada and the United States won the men's and women's respectively, it is likely Mexico will benefit from the quotas as both Canada and the United States should qualify through the rankings. Mexico has a small chance to qualify through the rankings, but it is unlikely.
  6. That's the end plan, the Central American and Caribbean Games was a test. Whether the change happens for 2023 is debatable.
  7. More like 200-400-800-1500 Obviously we need a 25m freestyle event...
  8. Drop the 800m and add a 2500m Freestyle 800m Freestyle is like a 3000m race in athletics.
  9. Only the winner qualifies to the Olympics so it's not a huge deal, the runner-up does get a second chance, but they (Ghana or South Africa I guess) will be the underdog against Chile.
  10. Maybe the Zika virus will make an appearance in Japan
  11. Not really, he's just been on record saying that he doesn't care for the Olympics. Honestly, with no cash prize or even ranking points plus the rule that forces them to compete multiple Davis/Fed Cup matches there isn't much of an appeal for some players.
  12. Not surprising, he was one of the tennis players against the Olympics.
  13. Yeah, field hockey tends to be a bit more strict. Though I imagine there will be a few more sports that won't give the host quota should someone like Qatar host the Olympics.
  14. Technically FIBA (and other federations) decide whether or not the host gets the quota to compete. In FIBA's case they tend to delay their decision.
  15. Some nations have additional standards for athletes
  16. The simple answer is to increase athlete quotas and have the Olympics be hosted across 2-3 metro areas in a nation.
  17. The extra quotas that were used in 2020 will not be used in 2024 so any additional quotas from new sports will come at the expense of something else. Any sports that aren't balanced better watch out...
  18. I think the bigger issue is that 10 athletes per event is laughable, you really do need at least 16 athletes. That's 128 athletes among the current events. You can have 2-4 sports with that many athletes.
  19. No, the World Cup Final and World Championships are different events.
  20. Removed Burundi (Athletics) Czech Republic (Shooting) Burundi qualified in the men's marathon while the Czech Republic qualified in men's skeet, removing one of the more surprising unqualified nations.
  21. Another perfect run by Vincent Hancock in men's skeet
  22. No, an athlete can not compete in an event unless the nation has already qualified to it. A road race athlete can not compete in the omnium unless the nation has already qualified in it. In cycling there are two types of quotas, athlete quotas and event quotas. A nation must have both in order to compete.
  23. Yes, but only if they already qualified a quota to compete in the event. So in theory Algeria could win the continental quota in the individual sprint and then use their road athlete to compete in the keirin (since all nations which qualified in individual sprint will be allowed to compete in the keirin). Of course, nations tend to use that transferable athlete quota in the endurance events, for example using five athletes instead of four across the team pursuit and Madison events or three athletes instead of two between the Madison and Omnium.
  24. I doubt Burkina Faso will defeat the Netherlands or Italy, even defeating South Africa would be a huge victory for them.
