This stage is a national cup only for Chinese athletes. And China skating association announced that all kinds of national speed skating and short track speed skating events would be postponed indefinitely on 2nd Feb. The announcement is in Chinese from China skating association official website.

Also about tennis, the european spring clay season would not be held so clay specialists would be damaged.

It is not so simple. If there is no change in Olympic dates, IOC/IFs need to check if there is enough time to hold all the qualification tournaments. For example in Boxing, they need to host continental qualifiers first and then the World qualifiers. Also, need to have sufficient gaps between those tournaments as well (specially considering that Asia/Africa already have had their qualifiers, so small gap will be beneficial to boxers from these confederations).

In case of rankings based qualification, they need to make a decision if there is need to postpone the deadline or not. For example, Tennis will be using rankings published on 8 June 2020. We have lost atleast 2-3 months of the tour. 3 months is 25% of the season. So, should ranking date be extended by say a month (unfair to those who got points in the corresponding period last year) or should they stay with the same ranking date (unfair to those who were chasing the qualification and were banking to get points in the last couple of months).

And in case of postponement to say 2022, obviously ranking issues remain. Also, how bad would it look on part of IOC and organising committee if 2021 World Champion in a sport can't take part but 2019 World Champion has qualified.

All in all, not easy decisions. Honestly, I don't think there is any decision which can be remotely acceptable/fair to all.

By tomorrow the number of deaths in Italy will be higher than the number of deaths in China. And probably by next week also the number of total cases will be higher.

I am not sure if the count system is the same all around the world though. 50% of our deaths had more than 3 other diseases. 25% had 2 diseases, 25% had 1 disease and only 3 cases died without having any other official disease.

That's meaningless. Having so many events in 1 year won't help.Athletes will skip all smaller events to concentrate on Olympics.

Well beside stabbing @heywoodu, I feel much better.  My symptoms have almost dissapared. I can now sleep normally. I haven't been checked, so I don't know if it was "just" a common flu or the Covid-19. Of couse, even though my symptoms are gone, I will still follow the guidelines of my country's health authorities and stay in home quarantine.

I've been saying that the right move is to wait until May to make that decision.  But there needs to be a backup plan and it seems like the IOC and the organizers aren't even considering that.

As you can see, for continental  regattas I only considered those NOCs that have either one or zero crews qualified from the Worlds.

In this scenario,  would qualify both lightweight boats, thus a quota in both single sculls events was added to Asia & Oceania Quota, which means  would earn a quota in men's 1x.

All other blue cells with an asterisk are places that can't be filled by boats from that continent, so they're reallocated to the next best crews from the Worlds, also colored in blue.

Finally, both  &  would have to choose between their crews, as they finished in the exactly same; sadly for Austria, they were already qualified in women's single sculls, so they can only pick one boat from the continental quota.  In both cases, the NOC's benefiting from the exclusion of either boat are marked in lime and italics in their respective events.

Not totally, most business will not close down, and people who can't work at home are still excepted to turn in tomorrow at work. Most public transport are still on (albeit on limited capacity), etc.

And most important thing, we still can walk our dogs out. I've just ordered a plastic one from Amazon. Hope it will works ok with the cops
