  1. I'm really surprised at the double standards here. People go crazy when a new cheater is banned, but when a nation creates a state-driven doping program, most people are okay to simply turn a blind eye on the whole situation. Clean individuals can always try to compete as independent athletes. Of course players in team sports would suffer, but that's the price you pay for representing a nation which has been proven again and again not to play by the rules. At this point another slap on the wrist is not going to make any difference. The IOC needs to ban Russia with no possibility of amendments to their decision. And, really, how come some people still believe this is not about politics? What world do some of you guys live in? We have athletes representing nations competing against one another, and a huge doping scandal led by a nation, and some people still believe this is only about the individual performances of the athletes? Seriously? Wake up, Sleeping Beauty.

  6. I am looking forward to the sprint. There will be lots of story lines. Who will get the last WC spot, who feels snubbed and does well. Who feels snubbed and does poorly. Which juniors are ready to move full-time to the IBU Cup, who needs more time with the youth. Mostly I am ready to hear the crack of the shot. The ping of the hit. The roar of the crowd. It's the most wonderful time of the year...

  7. A quick Google shows that she did her school in Austria and she specifically says her mom is Austrian, which leads one to believe her dad is not (so, probably German) She has dual nationality, but decided to compete for Germany. The way she's going I doubt she'll compete in the IBU Cup anytime soon, which makes it harder to ask her, but just in case she does and it's one I'm not going to, a reminder for @brunamoura to ask her about it if she happens to see her

  8. I get that, but it's a bit harsh to keep blaming everyone who bans Russia instead of blaming those who are actually to blame for all of this, the Russian authorities. I don't know how much further things should go before at some point one should say "Look, this sucks badly for innocent athletes as well, but this has got to be stopped and resolved." There's not really a 'good' way to go about all it, but just banning athletes who have actually been caught makes the whole Russian system get away with it.

  10. The world's leading idiot seems to seriously think he signed an act that has now given women the right to vote. What he signed is an act to bring out a coin that commemorates this happening.....100 years ago. "Why wasn't it done a long time ago?" Holy shit man.

  14. As I said before, media framing worked really well in these Games. They keep focusing the bad side in Manila as if the other host cities doesn't exist. Venues in Clark are nice and overall running smoothly, halal food kitchen is ready, etc. But no one cares. Why? Because it won't appeal to readers...

  15. We should all withdraw from the olympics and let Americans compete, it became their party anyway. Most new sports and disciplines have english-speaking countries dominating in them. So-called Olympic chanel is basically a chanel of USA olympic team, swimming schedule is adopted based on how american tv-houses want. At least we have football to enjoy.

  17. Indeed. After a quick look at her instagram and facebook, it seems she is born and have lived her whole life in Sweden. I even found an interview with her from when she was 12: https://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=78&artikel=5436847 She was quite a talent in Swedish biathlon from what I can read. Her big idol was, and maybe still is, Helena Ekholm.

Fontos hétvégén vagyunk túl a vívó kvali szempontjából. Női párbajtőr, férfi tőr, teljesen esélytelen de ez eddig is egyértelmű volt. Férfi párbajtőr, a Vb betli után itt az újabb, az Ukránok kicsinálnak minket. Szerintem itt most lefőtt a kávé.

  24. The difference is that if you randomly pick one of the thousands of Russian athletes, he/she is still way more likely to be innocent than anyone who, in an individual sport where you are not forced to join any team to compete at the highest level, chose to enter in a small (15-20 people) team whose management is known to be involved in doping practices.

  25. Are people forgetting on purpose there's a huge difference between individuals choosing to cheat (or even teams playing dirty based on some company) and actual state governments having massive doping programs and doing everything it can to cover everything up as much as possible when caught and tamper with all the evidence?

  26. to me, the important is not to see that farce of OAR anymore... I hope Bach & co. are going to reject at least the "no Russian Flag must wave at the Olympics"... if there are some Russian athletes who are considered "clean" beyond any doubt and allowed to take part into the Olympic Games, they must have their Flag and Anthem playing in Tokyo and Beijing... p.s. however, I'd like to hear/read the same recommendations for all those Nike protected cheaters normally speaking another Language, from this and the other side of the Ocean (any reference to USA, GBR, AUS and all their allied Nations is purely intentional )...

  28. From January 2019 The Biathlon federation actually had worked together with 4F already in the previous year. but the NOC signed a deal only this January and is expected to last until the Dakar YOG 2022. The first Olympic event at which Slovak athletes presented themselves in 4F clothing was the February European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF) in Sarajevo. I really liked it. and the first summer event was the European Games in Minsk, which looked just AWFUL !

Considering the amount of damage and big buildings that are still on the brink of collapse, I find it hard to imagine the death toll will stay inside single digits..
