  8. Incredible historic achievement for Alexander Ferlazzo to be 5th in the men’s singles today. Non-track nations very often do well in skeleton & bob, but it’s incredibly difficult in luge, so a big .

Brian Yang does it again, defeating World #4 Anthony Ginting 13-21, 21-17, 21-19 to advance to his first career Super 500 final at the Indonesia Masters Yang was 9-13 down in set 2, and 15-19 (!!) down in set 3, yet somehow still managed to come out on the winning side. He’ll take on World #7 Anders Antonsen in the final, who’s in red hot form after winning the Super 1000 Malaysia Open a couple of weeks ago.

  12. Doubles players are usually somewhat older on average but Bopanna finally winning a Grand Slam at age 43 is a true throwback for the ages

  13. Sabalenka way better than Zheng today. Actually I think nobody can beat her at this moment. She really deserve the trophy. Rohan Bopanna finally makes it At almost 44 years (next month) he won a GS and is number 1 in the double ranking He totally deserves it. Congrats for his partner, Ebden, who also is pretty aged player, 36 years and congrats for Italians Bolelli and Vavassori, great tournament for them

  16. I love Australia, but their team is really too big. For example, in Rhythmic Gymnastics at the Paris Olympics we will have an Australian group, which has a very low technical level compared to groups that were possibly left out, such as Azerbaijan, Greece or Poland, with a very high technical level, wouldn't it make more sense to give Oceania individual quotas instead a full group? The same thing in artistic swimming, the groups from Canada and the United States are possibly out, but we will have a place for Oceania, couldn't this place be a duet and Australia try to win a place per group like all the other countries? In Boxing, Brazil achieved 9 Olympic places through the very difficult continental competition in the Americas, while Australia managed 12 Olympic places in a continental championship with a low technical level. My opinion, no hate on Australia, but I think the Australian team is inflated and gets quotas very easily compared to countries on other continents. But of course this is not the fault of the Australians, their geographical location. But couldn't Olympic quotas be a little more meritocratic?

  18. As for Ukraine, I can see that our biggest hope for medal in new event is men's K4, because our guys are really close together, they train together, have Instagram account for their squad, so I can see medal can be coming to our country.

Especially a 13-year old, I'd even say But since I assume he wants to eventually be a pro player, he does need to learn that you can't do this, no matter how clear the umpire mistake was. At least controlling your temper to some basic extent is part of being a professional as well. And yes, I know Nick Kyrgios will not give this post a 'Like'

  23. athletes in good shape, it looks... in Lodz, Zeynab Dosso was second only to local hero Ewa Svoboda by 1/100 in the women's 60m, but she destroyed twice the National Record, clocking 7.09 in the prelims and then 7.05 in the final (the previous record, she was sharing with Manuela Levorato, was 7.14) Lorenzo Simonelli, instead, is the official new world leader* in the m en's 60m Hurdles after he won the race in Poland with 7.50 (new NR, also) *in the NCAA season, a guy named Trey Cunningham already ran 7.47, but his result has not been recorded by WA yet (and maybe it will never be, who knows?) world silver medallist Leonardo Fabbri, finally, made his debut in the indoor season and won the men's Shot Put in 21m26 in Padua, in the meantime, Pietro Arese improved the NR over the men's 1500m, running in 3.37.03, not a truly impressive time, but I think it's still worth to be mentioned last but not least, Larissa Iapichino completed her 1st LJ competition of the winter in Sabadell...she won, but couldn't go further than 6m62

  24. Rolex 24 at Daytona is underway. I haven't been following it much, but apparently there's been 6(!) wrecks in the first 1 1/2 hours I've always liked this race. I was a huge motorsports fan growing up, and this race always signaled the new year. Unfortunately, I kind of grew out of motorsports once I got into international sports.

  39. Nicola Olyslagers opens her season with a 2.03 at ACT Champs to equal the national record. I hope she isn't peaking too early in the season. After struggling with injuries the last year or so 19 year old Torrie Lewis is on the improve again this time breaking the 100m Aussie record clocking a wind legal 11.10. Would be cool to see an Aussie go sub 11 for the first time in Paris.

  41. Personally I don't think Oceania should even exist as a separate region but I don't think Asia would accept us merging with them and no other solution makes sense. I don't think many Australians outside the rhythmic gymnastics and artistic swimming communities would even notice if Australia didn't have those teams at the Olympics.

  46. the whole start list was announced few days ago (and it was also available earlier in their "Arena" section) https://uww.org/article/european-championships-2024-entry-list that's not surprising at all. he is cutting few kilos, the time gap between the Euro Champs and Euro Qualifier is not that much. Euro Champ is still important, so wrestling one weight up (and most probably winning a medal) was the best solution.

  47. Oh please, don't act as offended. Per capita data is useless, only total number of emissions are what matter in the big picture. Everyone knows what the air looks like in India. It's like night and day if you compare it to Bulgaria, or Europe as a whole. Sure, taking measures for 2 billion people is a very hard task, but i haven't seen any instances or talks of the Indian Government trying to tackle the carbon footprint and the huge number of emissions going to the atmosphere. And yes China should have never gotten the 2022 Olympics, i have made that opinion years ago. 2008 is a different story as climate change wasn't as evident, or known to the general population then, let alone the time they were awarded the Games. And even then, there were huge debates on the air situation in Beijing and the health of the athletes. I actually like India, in contrast to what you may believe. But i don't think, as a country you are ready to host the Olympics currently. If there is a plan for the next 10 years to change the course and make steps for a more clean future, then 2040-44 is a great opportunity.

  48. There have never been 3 straight non-European Olympics, Summer or Winter, in history. India could wait to 2040, or 2044, if a viable African bid appears for 40. Hungary 2036 is a superb idea and if the athletics (and swimming )Worlds were test events, Hungarians passed it with flying colours. Poland on the other hand, though also interesting on paper as a country, if the total catastrophy of the European Games is an indication, then better not. India can host when they start less polluting the planet in my opinion.
