  5. this one was quite unexpected. Gold medal and quota for Beiranvand who is just 15 years old I assume (or I can say pretty sure) he is the youngest ever Iranian qualifies for the Olympics , we had younger competitors but that was long time ago when qualifications didn't exist

  6. Hold the phone! Detroit Lions have won a playoff game! Only their second postseason win in the Super Bowl era (since 1967). They beat LA Rams 24-23 and will host Buccaneers or Eagles in the Divisional round next weekend.

  7. The latter two are also "football with sticks". The way I see it, the difference between these "families" is "people who actually want to pass a ball" vs "people who want to beat up other people"

  14. Really impressive from Yastremska, especially since she struggled in all three of her qualifying matches, including against our own Valentini Grammatikopoulou (6-4 3-6 6-4)

  15. Not that Canada is any better in Bandy. (I’d argue Lacrosse is closer to “ice hockey on a field” than field hockey, esp the Olympic format, and ofc Bandy is almost literally Field Hockey on ice).

  16. Oh I didn't even mean that Schwarz and Vlhova obviously became leaders in the World Cup, but several of the other medalists are having nice World Cup careers as well. In 2016 that's a bit less the case, where River Radamus and Alione Danioth were all the hype, but Radamus never really lived up to that (but he's got a decent World Cup career going now) and Danioth just snowballed from bad luck to bad luck with, if I'm not mistaken, 6 (!) serious injuries in as many years..

  17. True, but being entirely honest....it's the Youth Olympics, even if they were in the middle of the European day I honestly doubt there'd be much more than a handful of viewers... We would watch it, obviously, but we on this forum really are nowhere near the 'normal' sports fan

  19. I have mixed feelings, good that we didn't loss to weaker, on paper, team and didn't finish with 0-3, but seeing how Faroer players performed today they deserved for win.

  20. Always nice to look back at old junior/youth results That good old time, when skiing powerhouses like Morocco and the Netherlands won medals

  21. yep, moms are the biggest heroes without debate. I´m mainly curious about the time gap between Colturi and the others in Slalom it may be even some historic marge like 3-4 seconds between gold and silver lol so far the record is from 2012 and Vlhová win by negligible one and half second

  22. I see no mistake... by the way, I hope women's Alpine Skiing won't be a one-woman show... even if looking at finishing high in the medal table would be a nice "novum"

  24. Cameroon tied with Guinea 1-1 , despite the fact Gunians played with 10 men for entire 2nd half . Onana their GK arrived before the game literally with 1.5 hour as he was playing with Man UTD yesterday against Tottenham and Cameroon will struggle much without 2021 AFCON Top Scorer Vincent Aboubakar and Rigobert Song made it even worse for them by not calling up Bayern Munich Striker Eric Maxim Chupomoting

  28. A very convincing show by Title Holders Senegal with a 3-0 win against Gambia , yet Gambians played with at 10-men for entire 2nd half , but they proved that they are ready to defend their title

  36. Official training for sliding sports should get underway in the next 36 hours I believe, so I guess we are due for a results system. My guess is that it will either be SwissTiming (sportresult as mentioned by @heywoodu) or Atos given those have historically been the IOC’s timing/IT partners.

  38. Packers won 48-32 and the game wasn't even that close. A complete horror show from Cowboys and some heads will roll there. No more sugarcoating the Dak Prescott experience. His ceiling is winning a wild card game and that is it.

  40. We didn't tie with Spain , we haven't played them yet , a tie with Korea and loss to Austria , I was disappointed with the tie with Korea because we were leading until last 2 minutes that's it and ofc a loss to Austria reminded me that this team always ruin it whenever they are close to some achievement. We got robbed in African Olympic Qualifucations against SA where 2 goals were cancelled by video review , but still this team always choke in the last stages of a big competition for them

  41. Dayana Yastremska literally destroyed current Wimbledon champ Marketa Vondrousova with a stunning 6-1, 6-2. What's more, Taylah Preston, who is "Yastremska's twin", made some problems with Eli Svitolina , but our star handled them with a double 6-2.

  46. Well, at first match Croatia beats Spain with +10 goals, while today they only tied 28-28 with Austria Also surprisingly tied 26-26 with I'm hoping that will qualify to OQT and then qualify to Olympics

  47. Right okay, a bit of mixed day in terms of Olympic Qualification. Natasha Wodak was on pace for 2:24 mid at the Houston Marathon with six miles left to go, but her hamstrings started to seize up soon after, finishing well off the OQS in 2:28.41. She hasn’t ruled out a trip to the Boston Marathon, just depending on whether her body can recover in time. On a more positive note, Canada has now qualified their first athletes in fencing (20th sport), as our women’s foil team has mathematically booked their ticket to Paris with one WC still to go!

  50. We led 6-5 at halftime and then totally collapsed, Croatia then went up 6-13 and we scored two goals at the end It's still crazy that we have 4 World Championships medals and none at the European Championships, even though it is basically the same opponents in both. It's a good thing we already qualified for the Olympics, and still have the World Championships and Olympics later this year, so hopefully we can get back on the podium very soon.
