Budapest is about to lose the 2023 Athletics World Championships hosting rights. The major of Budapest is the frontrunner to win the 2021 Hungarian opposition primary which will be held next month, so he's trying to pull the plug on the Athletics WCh now a major campaign move to show that he will fight against Orbán's corruption. It's part of his ongoing fight against the University of Fudan, or more like the fight for the student district that the goverment killed with Fudan. The mayor of Budapest is asking the opposition led General Assembly of Budapest to veto the Athletics World Championships if Fidesz/Orbán continues to back the Chinese university instead of the student district.

The Athletics World Championships has been under attack by the opposition since Budapest won the bid and I think this time they will actually go for it, the mayor of Budapest needs this boost for the oppsition primary, which this would be because Budapest and the oppsition voters in general don't support the Athletics WCh or most sport events that have a high budget, which is why for example the 2024 Olympics bid was cancelled.

Since the athletics stadium is currently under construction, they'll look silly to ask for the only event that can actually fill the stadium to be called off, no ?

It seems easy enough for Orban & co to spin it as the opposition being the real public money waster.

Considering the bad reputation of the 2017 Aquatics World Championships (it was 10 times more expensive than the other Aquatics WChs), I think at this point opposition voters would rather call off the ongoing construction than to let Orbán waste more money.

Yeah, no, giving an incredibly prominent terrorist group which now holds all the power a bunch of names of people they can directly target. What could go wrong.

You guys still don't get it. USA doesn't see Taliban as a terrorist group anymore. ISIS-K is the terrorist group now. Taliban is the newest ally who needs to be supplied arms to take on the ISIS-K.

And no point in blaming Joe Biden. He is just continuing the same policy that has been in place since Obama admin. Hillary/Kerry started peace talks with Taliban. Trump took the complete withdrawal decision. Grandpa Joe is simply continuing the work started by his predecessors. He can only be faulted on the horrible way the withdrawal is taking place.

China mainstream media and foreign ministry these days keep urging all citizens leave Afghanistan ASAP. It indicates that Taliban may control most land and the country will be back to chaos even whole scale civil war soon.

We will soon have a another Middle East mess to follow. Let’s see how the US troops withdrawal process.

Look back what I said in June 23rd. From that time on, Chinese government kept urging all citizens leaving Afghanistan and offering help to book commercial flight tickets. It even warned that everyone chose to stay should bare all responsibility so zero evacuation flights from China after the takeover. Even what US predicted is right that ex-Afghan government could persist another 90 days, it didn't necessarily mean that Western citizens and at-risk Afghans should be evacuated at last 15-30 days. Given August 31st deadline is set, all civilian evacuation should be prior of that. The withdrawal is inevitable but could be much more decent and well-ordered.

Peace maker Trump: "We should invade Afghanistan with everything we have, or bomb it to hell."

Trump first: "We need to withdraw."

Withdrawing doesn't go great under a non-Trump president...Trump: "We need to invade."

How do people still fall for this probably permanently drunk moron? :d

Well it's kinda right that if failed to transfer the equipment to US then should destroy/bomb them. Otherwise it's a huge amount of money for Taliban sell them in black market especially something like helicopter .
